[Poem] Fifty Steps

MRPolo13

The Arbiter of the Gods
There are fifty steps that lead up to the stake in the fortress of Dwrn Cerrig, called the Last Light. For some, these may be the last fifty steps they shall ever take.

Fifty steps I take,
As I ascend my firey throne,
Though people do surround me,
I feel completely alone.

Fifty steps I take,
As I leave the cold, harsh halls,
I once was great and mighty,
But now for me the bell tolls.

Fifty steps I take,
As I remember my whole life,
My mistakes and my wrongdoings,
The world of hate and strife.

Fifty steps I take,
Nearing to the end,
Darkness fills around me,
As to my death I ascend.

At last I see what it is,
As the final step I take,
At last I know my death awaits,
Watching them light my stake.

Pretty coo. But get ready for some constructive criticism(just a little)!

The second stanza has a slant rhyme, where all the other stanzas have true rhymes.

That's true. @Faelin gave a really good explanation I did not (I was just looking for anything that was either half or true rhyme. I didn't even realise I managed a true rhyme all the way through aside from second stanza xD), and that is, to quote, "Rigid rhythm is good, equals finality". :p
