About Etheras: Etheras is the capital city of the eastern Commonwealth of Renatus, a nation which descended from a long tradition of merchants and warriors, best known for their love of horses - which are commonly regarded as the best in Altera, and their love for liberty. The city's beauty, as well as its surprisingly calm nature make it a great destination for any traveler, and the king and his government look after their subjects to the best of their ability.

Location: There are a couple of ways to access Etheras. The dockmaster is always happy to take people here (note, you have to type in "go Renatus" to get here), and you can also easily travel here on foot, simply by following the road east of the Crossroads. This marks the city in an interesting spot, being possibly one of the closest influences on the Crossroads aside from Thiil.
The city is surrounded by vast plains, which are perfect breeding and training grounds for its horses and for its agricultural backbone. It serves as a beacon of civilisation amongst the steppes.

Applying: You can apply to Etheras in many ways. The best way to apply is through here. You can simply post an application on this thread or via PM and we can meet in game to find you a house. Most houses have a small fee (from as low as couple of hundred Radiants), but once you pay the house belongs fully to you. There are also shops and stalls, which are generally a lot cheaper but are to be used only for your own little business. You can also apply in-game if you so desire, simply by meeting with me (Minibun1342. You can also PM me on my other accounts - usually MRPolo13, but also ArmbiterPolo).

The Law of Etheras: Etheras, as many other cities, has a unique set of laws that are specific to it, and may vary slightly to the laws of Renatan Commonwealth as a nation. There are a series of punishments that are dependent on what a criminal has done, and a set of laws to protect the population. The law is enforced by the city guard, a group of people under the command of a Broker - a nobleman appointed by the king to watch over the city's peace.

For petty crimes: For petty crimes, such as minor theft; disturbing of peace; and other minor offenses, an individual may be charged with a fine of up to 500 Radiants, spend up to a day in prison to 'cool off', or simply be issued with a warning. A judge is not required for a minor offense, and neither is a record in criminal records, unless the individual has performed more major offenses in the past.
For mediocre crimes: For mediocre crimes, such as more major theft; burglary; brawling/ fighting; etc, the criminal is to be sentenced by a broker - but is not required to stand before a royal judge. The punishments for such crimes may include prison sentence of up to a month (after which the broker has to take the man to court), beating with a stick, public shaming, or a large fine.
For major crimes: For major crimes of murder, attempted or committed (includes the use of weapons outside of duels/controlled environments); major thefts; abuse or torture of another being without Royal Torturer's Permit one may be faced with a life-long sentence; private or public execution through hanging or decapitation; torture or starving. A Royal judge must be present for the trial and the proceedings must be recorded by a scribe. A fair trial must be provided.
For crimes against the Royal Crown: Crimes against the Royal Crown of Renatus, his Majesty Uriv the First Astrius, can result in being flailed alive; decapitated (if a nobleman); torture to death or any other brutal method of execution. The king himself, or - if not available - one of his elected men is to conduct the proceedings.

Duels are legal in and outside of Etheras, but on Renatan lands they must be controlled with accordance to the law of the Commonwealth of Renatus. Getting around Etheras: Etheras is a relatively large city, with many different streets and backstreets. However, the main road of Etheras is simple enough to navigate. Every important street has a name, and every house has an address to allow you to navigate your way around the city a lot easier.
Please remember that Etheras is still work-in-progress. However, we are still happily accepting people, and your character might even gain nobility if he contributes to the city's development.



Starting from the top I'll list the highlighted areas.

Dark Blue road: Dockers' Rest is the first road that one sees when he enters the city through the main gates. The street has an inn right of the North Gate, and a brothel just before the First Square. The board of shipping can also be found here.
Dark purple road (connecting to the Dark blue road) and the square: This whole small section is called the Tower Square, named after the tower which raises high above Etheras as one of its tallest points.
Two small purple squares on the right: These two squares are the Grey Square (top) and Green Square (bottom). They're small market squares, where one can find vacant shops to start their own little business if they wish.
Light green area: This area is the Western Slums of the city. Most cities have slums, and if you do not wish to pay a single Radiant for your accommodation, you may choose to live in one of the hovels that overlap each other in there.
Blue roads (two small segments): Percheron's Path connects Grey Square and Green Square with the rest of the city.
Red square: The First Square is probably the most important square in Etheras, considering it is a crossroad that leads into the most inhabitable area of the city.
Pink road: Abtenauer Street.
Dark green road: Gateway Road. There are plans to extend the docks into the area outside of this gate, which would make this gate a lot more important.
Red road: Morgan's Road.
Green road: Friesian Street houses the Royal Bank of Etheras and the Great Man's Rest inn. It can also be considered the buffer zone between the normal area of Etheras and the wealthy area.
Green square: The Market Square is where the most goods are traded. You can easily find a vacant stall there if you wish to sell your goods.
Dark red area: The noble area. While some houses there are available for sale, most are only given to members of the nobility.
Brown road (just below the dark green road): Victory Parade.
Orange road: The Court's Riders Street connects the Royal Mansion with the rest of the city.
Orange square: The Grand Square.
