Seasons and Holidays
in Linlea

◊ Mal’bel Gra - Time of Grey
Winter - Season of Frost

In recent years, Linlea has begun to associate the cold weather to their prominent patron, The Grey Lady. The land is generally in shades of grey, due to the weather. Snow is rare, but they welcome the cold sleet, rain, fog and mists as a part of their land. The months of Winter extend a lot longer here. The docks are fairly wet, the sailors call for storms out at sea and hovel close to the Tavern’s fires. There’s an abundance of fishing during these times, too. A few may consider these months harrowing and bleak, while those who call Linlea home consider it an opportune time for personal solidarity.

Velmon Gra’Sal - Celebration of the Grey Lady - Faithfuls of the known patron respect the protection of the Grey Lady’s watchful form over their people through visits of the temple, pilgrimages to points of the Isle, or through wearing her colors all day. In the end, families gather around fireplaces to whisper stories of those they keep remembered.

Mal’bel Dolk’maz - Time of Rising
Spring - Season of Birth

Brisk mornings slowly awake to pleasant temperatures, much like waking after a restful sleep. Linlea is quiet at the break of dawn, with many tending to their homes and staying with their own in the early hours. As the isles warm, social activity, at least by Linlean standards, rises in a steady rhythm. By midday, hammers fall, axes saw, and chisels cleave as the people begin repairs and continued growth of their settlements. The first foundations of home and towers sprout alongside the grain. Miniature storms of grey cloth dash about the works, the bundled children of parents still concerned by the cooler air.

Dox’bel Kol - The First Day. The first turnover day from colder nights to warmer mornings begins to show through the weather and winds.

Dox’bel Yieon - Day of Song. Linlea is not known for colors, but the people enjoy a good song or poem during a welcoming time. Music is joyously promoted throughout the markets, once in a blue year.

Bairn’dox - Children’s Day. In memory of the Tol’fen’s child, Olive, Children’s day is celebrated in their own manners and homes.

◊ Mal’bel Ardness - Time of Endurance
Summer - Season of Harvest
Soon the season turns warmer. The people of Linlea shed their fur and wool for linen and leather. Many opt take to the sun and outdoors for work. Windows and doors tend to be open around friendlier alleyways, clothing lines filled with freshly washed laundry, and young citizens take up sticks and wooden swords to test their skills against each other. The tavern bustles at night with workers lounging outside with smoking pipes and wry peers to strangers passing by. Many young folk take this time as an opportunity to venture away from the Linlea to gather more unique resources and knowledge to send home as trade routes can sail freely without the worry of heavy storms.

As much as the Isles starts to see visible activity by the people, so do the guards by the gates of the Ashlands. Scouts murmur of howls and hisses in the night, more often than the colder seasons. Some tell tales of something bright dashing in the distance. Others claim finding broken crates of stolen goods- a few with large clawed gashes. The air around the outer rims of Linlea are usually tense.

Mol’Velmon - Middle Celebration. Midsummer Festival of Masks

Kov Tolko'mact - Dark War. The week of this day is known to be a time to remember those that endured through threats of war, of people who fell against the undead, and those that endured through the migration from the Northern Kingdoms to Linlea.

Remar’maz Graf’yell - Remembering Grafjell. On this day, Linleans remember their ancestors and origins left behind in the Sea of Storms. Much weight and memory is held upon this day, the last day of Kov Tolko’mact.

Mal’bel Sek - Time of Ash
Autumn - Season of Decay

Linleans relate this season to ‘Ash’. As nearing the end of one cycle- whether that cycle is of life, an arc, or trial. It is a transition between Life and Death and part of its balance. It is most associated with aging. The leaves on trees falling, crafts by blacksmiths growing rusted, the wooden docks turn dry and crooked. It’s also related to preparing for a coming storm or obstacle. Many turn more to their homes in these months, to strengthen their bonds or seek amends in their trials.

The Volcanic Ashlands are also marked to be restless during these months. Fumes of heat will pass over during the transition between Mal’bel Ardness and Sek. The skies are covered with Ashenclouds near the west, and the land shifts between warm weather and cold.

--
Velmon’bel Linlea - Celebration of Linlea - On this day, a quieter time passes in memory of Linleans taking their first steps on its shores.

Izazzazz’Tol'Embrak - Insanity’s Massaccre - This day is remembered to be an attempt at the lives of Linleans and refugees by cultists of the Dark Order and Qlippoth’s doing during the Ashen Blight.
