5. In your own words, how would you define metagaming and powergaming?
(It is important to understand what these terms are and why they are bannable offenses in any roleplaying community.)
Powergaming is defining a move or emotion completely and saying what happens to other people for them. It's a term for acts where player characters do things that they realistically couldn't do. Metagaming is a term that describes using information from outside one's character to benefit themselves, using information that a person's character wouldn't know, or using one's own background knowledge to intentionally break character.
6. Do we allow X-Raying mods or X-Ray texture packs on the server?
(This question goes for any method that can be used to unfairly find and mine ores.)
Absolutely not. I don't know a server that actually does.
7. Tell us about yourself! Do you have any examples of your work?
(Introduce yourself! Tell us some of your hobbies, what kind of music you like, other games you play, maybe any pets you have. We're not asking for anything too personal, but we would like to get to know you a bit better to help the application and transition. This question needs to be a minimum of five sentences and not focused on Minecraft.)
I have had some experience with RPG videogames, and some experience on other Minecraft RPG servers, even being a staff member on one of them. I especially prefer playing human characters and how they interact with the world.
8. Did anyone refer you? If not, how did you find our server?
(This question is optional. It does help us figure out where the majority of our players come from)
After some fallout with my previous server and the direction it was heading, I, along with a few other people, have found this server in hopes that it would be more fun to play.

Current Setting of the Server:
The lands of Altera have long been laced with upheaval, supernatural turmoil that would threaten to shatter the realm or tear it asunder. Long, have the peoples of Altera withstood these tribulations, overcoming and persevering through the generations. Only too recently, have they settled the ire of Titans and Gods. Though the days were dark and long, the realm did survive, through tenacity and reverence. The memories of their trials behind them still fresh, the realm sits in a state of unease and angst . . . with eyes on the horizon.
In the skies above, the stars flicker and burn across the auburn colors of the setting sun, streaks of color in the gathering dark. The Realm of Altera awaits . . .

Elliot stands at about 5'10, on the shorter end for his background. He has bright green eyes and messy brown hair, with fair, but not overly pale skin. He usually wears a dull gray adventurers tunic with brown straps, and a fit, but not muscular build.

Elliot grew up fairly comfortably in the Marien Valley, living his childhood and adolescence as any human would. However, he was quite a sheltered child, usually left on his own in his village, and didn't have many social experiences growing up. With his father being a skilled war smith, and away working most of the time, he developed a relationship with his mother Lenore, who always stayed with him in the village. Elliot's aspiration was to become an adventurer and go out into the world, carving his own journey with sword in hand.
A young 14-year old Elliot opened a box containing a standard-issue military sword.
"Mother? Where did you get a weapon like this from?"
"It used to belong to your father, dear, before he became a smith for more advanced weaponry, " Lenore reassured. Elliot grasped the handle of the blade, getting a feel for the weapon before asking "Do you think Father would mind if I practiced with it? It would be very nice if I could..."
"I'm sure he'd be quite alright with it. Do remember not to cut yourself, dear. We don't want any injuries." Lenore cautioned. Elliot smiled and said "I'll be fine, Mother. It's time I moved up from swinging around sticks."
Time passed in the village, and Elliot eventually grew into a young man of 19 years, still swinging his father's blade. Although he had handled the weapon for quite awhile, he had no one to truly train with, and had poor form in combat, getting winded after only a few minutes of sparring. His wish was for his father to come home and show him how to handle the blade, so that he could one day go out into the world and follow his dreams with a proper way to defend himself. Elliot's wish was granted, but not for the reasons he had hoped.
His father James did eventually return to the village, but he described it as a retreat, and that he had no intention of going back so soon. He agreed to spar with Elliot for the time being, so that he could get ready for what he had to face.
"Son, I think it's time I showed you how to handle this thing, because...we might need it going forth." Elliot's father explained to him the situation, but didn't exactly tell why they needed to hurry.
After a week of on-and-off training with his father, Elliot had a basic knowledge of sword fighting and form with weaponry, but his life was about to take a drastic change for the worse.
Late one night, a terror ran through the village. The undead had finally reached their location, along with others in the North, and their village was under attack! James woke his son and wife up with a start, and told Elliot to hand over his blade.
"This isn't a matter of opinion. I'm going to hold them off for as long as I can. Elliot. I might never see you again, so please take care of yourself and leave this place. I promise I will not die in vain."
With that, Elliot ran as far as his legs would carry him, eventually reaching a packed refugee ship bound for the Eastern Continent. From here, his new life was underway, but with nothing to his name except the clothes on his back. The only two people he cared about were out of his life.

About Your Character!
This section is about the character you intend to use once you join the server.We ask that new players follow these guidelines during this portion of the application:
- Characters begin with basic skills and gear. No advanced armor or weaponry. Skills and abilities are appropriate to a novice level. Skills should be learned through roleplay, not through backstory.
- Characters fit the lore. If you choose to play as a Moor Elf, for example, we expect appearance and details to be fitting with base lore.
- Characters cannot use magic in any way. The test itself should not mention magic either. HollowWorld uses a restricted magic system and it is only accessible to those who find and learn from a teacher in-game.
- Tests should not be violent. No murder, killing, death, torture. In the past, 8 out of 10 applications featured characters fighting off bandits or slaying passersby. We don't want to see how well you can script a fight scene. We want to see how well you can tell a story, how well you can roleplay.
- Be creative and be original. Do not use tests/characters whose home villages were burned, parents murdered, and then set off to be an orphan assassin. It has been done before. Please don't do it again.
- Written portion of the test is required to be a 400 word minimum. If the test doesn't meet the minimum, Staff may ask you to extend the test before the application is considered.
