He grew up on a farmstead near the capital of Elisania, where his human mother tended to the garden and the animals. When he was little, his mother used to teach him about the animals and the beauty of nature, while showing him how to tend with it.Kaedwen didn't know his Elven father, Heredreth, so well nor did he see him often. The reason for this was, according to mother, that his father was the High Court's mason and that he was in charge of being the architect of many great buildings. His father designed nearly everything in the city and also helped building some of them. When Kaedwen had time to fantasize about it, he dreamt of building big projects and following his father in his footsteps. When Kaedwen reached the age of 18, He started asking his father about his job more regularily and he even insisted on accompanying his father to the Capital city of Elisania. During the following years that he stayed there, rarely going back home, Kaedwen learned alot about all kinds of masonry and became skilled in both building as designing.
Once upon a day, when he was strutting around the streets, he noticed a strange guy running through the streets muttering to himself. He followed the strange person with purple dyed hair and suddenly he turned around saying "Hello there mysterious follower!" Kaedwen was surprised, but didn't turn around. They had a small conversation and Kaedwen understood that Akari, so was his name, was residing in the highest tower of the palace. Kaedwen, knowing the architecture of the palace, soon found his way into the palace and up to his room. A new friendship started to bloom.
A long time went past, the two became very good friends, trusting each other blindly. On a quiet Saturday, Kaedwen and his father were at a construction site of one of the most recent obstacle courses they were building, a peasant ran along screaming out "Execution today!!! They're executing the Queen herself!!" Wondered whether this would be true, Kaedwen and his father hurried along, following the crazed peasant. Once they arrived on the great plaza, Kaedwen saw the giant mass and on a giant stage in the middle of the plaza he saw the queen, lying with her head on a piece of wood, and he saw Akari and the king standing nearby. The king used his hands to calm down the giant mob below him and then said the following : "My fellow Elisanians, too long have we been ignoring the disobedience of some of our subjects. But before we go punish them who collaborate with the enemy, or those who disobey the laws of our kingdom, we must first cleanse our royal house ourself!" Upon hearing this, the crowd started whispering and muttering : "What has she done? Why is this happening? what's going on?" The king smiled and said : " You're all wondering why, but let me tell you this! A while ago, Queen Merinia found a muttering fool, shall we call him Akari the Fool, yes we will for now! Anyways, she found him on the country side and took him in because she was so merciful. We gave him a room and food, but I soon found out they were regularily seeing each other. Everyone knows the punishment for disobedience to the king and especially her married husband. Herefore, even loyalty must be punished! The last prayers have been made. As a punishment, I hereby order Queen Merinia to be beheaded and her Fool can watch from the first row. Kaedwen crossed eyes with Akari and feared for his life. The king yelled " It is time! Executioner do your thing!". Drums started to sound and the executioner took his axe, took a giant swing and upon hit, the head of the queen screamed loudly before falling into the basket. Kaedwen couldn't believe his eyes and saw Akari shaking terribly.
The story what happened next is familiar to everyone, Akari went insane when he saw this cruelty and started shouting, kicking screaming, cursing the king, threatening him with his life. As a reaction, the king enraged, unsheathed his sword and stabbed Akari in his chest. Kaedwen shouted, but his voice went lost in the screaming of the giant mob. He tried to reach Akari, who went unconscious and was being dragged away by the guards, but he couldn't move a bit. The last he saw was that the guards were attacked and that Akari was gone.
After this moment of chaos and the sight of Akari having escaped, the king became even more angry and shouted all friends of Akari to be executed immediately. Upon hearing this, Kaedwen turned to his father and his father looked at him saying: "Son, you must run, before it's too late". After saying this, he pushed Kaedwen further into the mass, until he lost his father out of eyesight. Kaedwen ran to his father's house, but upon arriving there he saw guards surrounding and pushing his father into a wall. Kaedwen had to watch how the guards mercilessly stabbed his father and left him there, he could not stop them because he had no arms and he feared for his life. After seeing this, Kaedwen rushed to his father who had his hand on his biggest wound. While bleeding to death, his father whispered to him : "Son, you're every thing I ever wanted, you must rescue your mother. Run boy, before it's too late. You musn't forget, how much we both cherished you." Tears sprung into Kaedwen's eyes upon seeing his father dying in his arms. Upon the last breath of his father, Kaedwen took his father's sword and horse and started racing for the farmstead.There he found his mother, captivated, while guards were burning down the farm. Kaedwen rushed up to the guards, hitting the first one with his horse, the other with his sword. The third one rushed towards Kaedwen, but Kaedwen parried his blow and jumped aside dodging the second. The soldier, disoriented, swung the wrong way and Kaedwen stabbed him in the back. The last and fourth soldier who was inside the house burning it down, hurrying outside. Kaedwen beat him to the door and slammed it shut, trapping the last soldier inside the fire hazard. His mother was unshackled and hugged her son heavily, crying. "Kaedwen, I thought I'd never see you again, she muttered in her old Dutch language. (Kaedwen was raised in both Dutch, English and a handful of Elvish) Kaedwen replied to her that he'd bring her to safety.
Suddenly a voice said "Well fought young halfling, you fight well. You seem to have talent!" Kaedwen turned around, saw a man dressed in black and red, with a dark hood on his head. "Who are you? Stay away!" Kaedwen yelled to the man. He in reply laughed loudly and said that if he wanted to kill them both, he would've done that already. After hearing this, Kaedwen lowered his sword. The man explained he was a dark assassin and offered Kaedwen an irresistable deal. He promised that the Assassin's guild would keep his mother safe and that they would train and educate Kaedwen to become a skilled assassin. He also revealed to Kaedwen that they had plans to murder the king, who had gone insane from killing his wife. Upon thinking about Akari and his father, he accepted the deal and was taken to their hideout. The location is until today unknown, but we do know most of it was underground. During several years, Kaedwen trained, studied to become one of the very best. He even had a few contracts, killing people for a living. He also met the woman of his life, Eleonore. She was also an assassin and together Kaedwen and Eleonore were tasked to murder the king. We do not have any documents about the incident, but we do know that the king now lies buried in the great Cathedral of Elisania. (built by Kaedwen's father) Kaedwen was a good assassin, had a lot of contacts with his mother and he and Eleonore had a loving relationship. Every thing went well, until the guild demanded of Eleonore to have a child, so that the guild could raise it from being a toddler to a cold-blooded assassin. (This was a usual demand of the Guild) They gave her 3 months to get pregnant, but Eleonore already knew she would be inable to. How hard Kaedwen tried, it wouldn't happen but it wasn't his fault. After the three months, the guild ordered to kill Eleonore for insubordinance. Kaedwen fled with her and his mother, killing all the people who chased them. But in one sudden fierce fight Eleonore turned to him with blood on her hands. An arrow had pierced her stomach and she was bleeding heavily. Again Kaedwen had to bury one of his beloved. Nobody knows what happened after that, for Kaedwen and his mother seem to have disappeared from the world. The only known fact is that a few years later, Kaedwen showed up in Port Silver and went his own way. His current location is only known by a few and he's trying to keep it that way.
