5. In your own words, how would you define metagaming and powergaming?
(It is important to understand what these terms are and why they are bannable offenses in any roleplaying community.)
Metagaming is using ooc information and applying it in roleplay. For example, an event is discussed on forms and you teleport there.
Powergaming is (in my opinion) worse than metagaming. It is forcefully making them go along with your roleplay and making sure you always win. For example, landing every attack or not giving a chance for players to defend themselves.
6. Do we allow X-Raying mods or X-Ray texture packs on the server?
(This question goes for any method that can be used to unfairly find and mine ores.)
Like most servers, no.
7. Tell us about yourself! Do you have any examples of your work?
(Introduce yourself! Tell us some of your hobbies, what kind of music you like, other games you play, maybe any pets you have. We're not asking for anything too personal, but we would like to get to know you a bit better to help the application and transition. I love music, mostly rock, and I love Stardew Valley and Harry Potter. I love fantasy settings and things of that nature. My favorite rock band has to be Linkin Park and I love art with my entire being. I have three cats and I am currently raising four kittens with my mom. I am a computer/science nerd and I'm considering getting two degrees. (Art + Chemistry)

I think I heard of HollowWorld on the FantasyRP server. I'm taking a break from that server and have decided to check out other servers to experience their playerbase.

The lands of Altera have long been laced with upheaval, supernatural turmoil that would threaten to shatter the realm or tear it asunder. Long, have the peoples of Altera withstood these tribulations, overcoming and persevering through the generations. Only too recently, have they settled the ire of Titans and Gods. Though the days were dark and long, the realm did survive, through tenacity and reverence. The memories of their trials behind them still fresh, the realm sits in a state of unease and angst . . . with eyes on the horizon.
In the skies above, the stars flicker and burn across the auburn colors of the setting sun, streaks of color in the gathering dark. The Realm of Altera awaits . . .

Silver Elf
Appearance:

Light blonde, messy hair that cascades around her body, a silky, blue robe wraps her form in comfort that looks expensive and has gold accents around the fabric. Her eyes are a silver that is common among royalty and noble families and her ears are abnormally large.

Mylaela, a young girl with high hopes and big dreams, was often found traveling around Altera with the smile that only a young child like her could produce. The only part of her body that ever got sun was her hands and face as she was told by older elves it wasn't good if she showed her small amounts of freckles as it was a flaw. Her storm-like eyes were curious of the land and, though not like her race or culture, explored the forests and was an amazing tree climber. However, when a bear came up looking for food, she, like most with common sense would do, carefully walked away without a lot of noise, knowing she would get scolded for even going into the forest where she could've possibly been eaten! However, what mattered was she was safe, right? Wrong. She was considered an outcast by the public because she was different from the Silver Elve's traditions. Difference, to most, was never a good thing as everyone wanted the next thing to be just like the first. She tore the veil out of her flowing, blonde hair and looked up to the sky, and prayed to the gods she believed in. Ever since that day, she would never wear her hair in a wrap or veil again as she, unlike everyone else, was going to make a change and be a difference for once. Break traditions that bound her and break free!
However, she found that though she was bound to be different from everyone else, it would never be in a good way. She had interests in magic, and dreadful to most, art. She was often scolded for painting as they believed it was a waste of time but to her, it was self-expression like letting her hair flow freely down her sides and rarely even wearing a veil. She did try to keep her face perfect but very light, hardly noticeable freckles always seemed to somehow dot her face. However, the more she lived, the more she realized that she should be happy with who she is. Other's opinions shouldn't even phase her because she was someone else. She was Mylaela Dordove and she would be the greatest Silver Elf to ever exist in Altera and change the people and show that flaws make us who we are and we can't change them.

About Your Character!

- Characters begin with basic skills and gear. No advanced armor or weaponry. Skills and abilities are appropriate to a novice level. Skills should be learned through roleplay, not through backstory.
- Characters fit the lore. If you choose to play as a Moor Elf, for example, we expect appearance and details to be fitting with base lore.
- Characters cannot use magic in any way. The test itself should not mention magic either. HollowWorld uses a restricted magic system and it is only accessible to those who find and learn from a teacher in-game.
- Tests should not be violent. No murder, killing, death, torture. In the past, 8 out of 10 applications featured characters fighting off bandits or slaying passersby. We don't want to see how well you can script a fight scene. We want to see how well you can tell a story, how well you can roleplay.
- Be creative and be original. Do not use tests/characters whose home villages were burned, parents murdered, and then set off to be an orphan assassin. It has been done before. Please don't do it again.
- Written portion of the test is required to be a 400 word minimum. If the test doesn't meet the minimum, Staff may ask you to extend the test before the application is considered.
