Story time:
-------------------
(Sort of a TL;DR)

Voislav origins from a land of eternal cold and darkness - Temnonia region. Living there on its own is a challenge as apart from the danger of being eaten alive by the vicious beasts inhabiting the wilds, people there are also kept in constant fear by scavenging tribes which roam the snowy plains seeking for settlements to raid for food and valuables. They also tend to enslave boys aged 10-14. Upon reaching 16 the latter are trained to become the new generation of "Predators", as they call themselves.

Due to the rough conditions of the world, children who make it to the age of 18 without being captured or dieing (a more probable scenario in bigger towns) are given the choice of either staying in the settlement or leaving the town to seek a better place to live in with several peers, which is the case in the upcoming story.

Voislav will leave his town with his beloved girl and head south through several key points where he will meet various difficulties and challenges. Upon reaching the town out of Temnonia region the couple will take a boat to the Far Lands, which will sink in the Quadrant of the Unknown - an interdimentional rift. All of the ship crew and his fiend Miroslava will go to different worlds and Voislav will find himself at where he is in the present moment, in Altera.

May 4, **12

Dear diary,
Today our party sets off to the unfriendly world outside the walls of our town. During the two years and three monts that had to be waited until Miroslava's 18th birthday i've been setting up for the trip. I saved up just enough to buy a sledge with 8 tame wolves to carry us, a diamond sword and two sets of iron armor. I also mad a bow for Miroslava, yet still haven't gathered any food. It just seems that all the wild animals have vanished since a week ago which has definately affected our town's food supplies too. All we are left with is some smoked beef, several grilled eels and a couple loafs of bread. Hopefully that will be enough for a couple of days into our trip.

We were planning to head south until we leave Temnonia. The lands beyond our region are unknown and not mapped as only few have ever came back home after their journeys though they say that after several months of heading straight south passing the Plains of Despair, the Humpbacked Bridge, the Soulful Valley and the White Forest one actually leaves Temnonia, hitting the port-town called Karpinsk settled on the bank of Hazy Ocean. Also Karpinsk is a part of the region called Toplozimia, the region where we probably will witness sunrises for the first time of our lives if we reach it.

Seems that Miroslava has packed too, so there's no time to waste. Off we go!

A thin young man with messy dark blonde hair and a green-eyed brunette stand beside their sledge waving to a crowd of people. Some of the people in the crowd are cying tears of sorrow but the majority talks about the upcoming trip of the couple with excitement.

"They surely can make it!"
"What if the Predators ambush them?"
"How are they going to get food?"
"Hey, he still owes me 12 dollars!"
"What's a dollar?"
"Let the wind be always at their back!"

The young man visibly got nervous.

"Alright, it is time for us to go! Vladimir, will you ever open this cursed gate for us? We have arranged the setting off at least four days ago, warned you and you promised that you won't set us back as you always do. And for your information it's been an hour since we had to go, you brainless ghoul!"

The gate then immediately created a shrill screech, slowly uncovering the endless white plains, illuminated by the colourful polar lights and big round moon of slightly blue-ish colour.

Voislav and Miroslava sat onto their sledge and rode it out of the town's gate. The weather was surprisingly clear, as usually vicious blizzards raged for the major part of the year. A long journey has just begun for them and the both were sitting silent, thinking about it. The surroundings were almost inviting to deep thoughts as well. From time to time they passed by ruined settlements. Some of them still had signs of inhabitance - the most recently pillaged ones had only had fireplaces in the center, the other ones were in the process of rebuilding.

"Does your nose feel any better?" - Miroslava finally broke the silence.
"I think it's fully healed now"

On this day he was particularly unlucky at everything. About three months before the present moment Voislav went hunting outside the town. This was also a means to exercise his ranged combat skills as he was (and still is) not good at it. He decided to go a bit further from the town than usual. Making his way across a nearby water stream - the only way was to carefully step on certain stones - he slipped on one of the stones and fell into the water. Even though the stream was not particularly strong and big, he still didn't manage to avoid getting quite wet. Voislav's first thought was to go home and change but he decided that if he went hunting he has to bring some food back. So he carried on his way to the forest.
After some time of walking he finally found a deer. Standing still he carefully prepared his bow and an arrow, took aim and finally shot, but... As bad at shooting as he is, the young man sneezed split second before the shot, missed the deer, landing the arrow into a tree. Moreover, because he applied too much force to the shot, the arrow broke in half and after a series of ricochets, the other half of the arrow hit him in the nose, breaking the bone. Of course, upon arrival to the town he said that he engaged into a glorious fistfight with a werecat and won it.

Surprisingly, their whole way through the Plains of Despair turned out to be a breeze. Never have they met anything more dangerous than several ghouls and lonely Predator's slaves, who managed to escape their hideouts safely. Poor kids. The travelers fed the latter and dropped them to nearby settlements.
