[!] Prolog
An earthen rumble occurs within the northern Volcanic Ashlands, alluding to a possible eruption. A scout returning to the Astrum Isles claims he saw a gap in the distance, northwest volcano, but couldn’t see any further as Ashhounds began to howl. A merchant passing from the Obsidian Mines to Linlea claimed she saw the clouds flickering a strange color in that same distance. A lingering curiosity remains to those that hear word of it.

Stragglers who pass by the tops of the Chasm will see the violet wafts of fumes. It isn't as harmful upon approach, but the wild dangers of the land prevent any from trekking inwards alone.
Those who come across it won't see much save for the fumes.

3/1/2022

Linlean scouts set up tents around the open Ridge. A few would meet stragglers, warning them of its dangerous fumes. But any who ignore them are left to their own devices, to fend for themselves. A few times every week, the ground rumbles and shakes around the area, casting more fumes into the air. Word reaches to Linlea that some of the wild caught in it, disappeared within.​

The center of the Ashlands rumble and quake for serveral days as the coming of a volcanic eruption warns all those traversing these lands. The Crystalline Ridge collapses inwardly, suddenly. Hot fumes of strange magical mists spread across the area before dispersing into the air. Some have warned nearby towns that creatures with amethyst eyes and crystals upon their bodies have been roaming nearby. They seem passive in nature, unless provoked. The warnings aren't given out too harshly and many go about their day, forgetting such a small excursion occurred so close to home. When the few who actually seek to find these creatures travel out, they return with no hopeful news, as if it was a fable.

What lay below the Ridge remains a mystery to the outside world. Those aware of it still try to uncover what the cause may have been. What is left now is but a broken, collapsed land, recovering from the violent event it underwent. And a few handful of people, marked and enlightened by a journey dwelling into unknown dangers.

THE CRYSTAL-SHROUD TOXIN
Violet fumes waft around the Crystalline Ridge. If inhaled for long periods of time, it begins to take effect on mortals every hour they’re inside its fumes. A /statroll body fortitude- per ‘day’ within the ridge. Each bad roll increases a stage. If a player is still in a certain stage when they return, they start with a negative modifier of their stage.

-Stage I: They carry a Lightheadedness, the world seems to be a little brighter. They are sensitive to sunlight and see a little better in darkness. No effect on constructs. Darkvision of other abilities doesn't change (vyres, shadow blessed, etc). They seem to find the place beautiful and alluring. Effect lasts an rp day once out of fume range.

-Stage II: Flecks of purple appear within the iris. They don’t feel like leaving, finding the place sublime. Minor wounds taken begin to have crystals of purple, pink and white -grow over the skin. This stops any blood loss and immediate infection, but the limb or part of the body it affects becomes more sluggish. -1 to any strength or speed movement modifiers on that limb, or in general. Effect lasts an rp week out of fume range. The crystals break and crumble away over time, leaving the wounds festering, to be healed. Any remaining crystals disperse into glittering powder. The crystal-skin infection is prickly to the touch until it disperses.

--Stage III: The intoxicated will begin to see specks of purple light floating in the air, causing them to be distracted during times of lull and stillness. They find it hard to leave the Crystalline Ridge, as if it was the only welcoming place to them. The wounds they take still become encrusted. The crystal-skin now seems to grow bigger than the wound, over a gradual few hours outside of fume range, almost covering a whole limb (if a head wound, it covers half the head- making one feel heavier and hard to move their head for long.) The effect lasts longer but seems to stop growing, 2 weeks in rp out of range. The visions of colored light specs floating, spacy distraction and flecks of purple in the iris will last for an ooc month. There is an ever alluring pull to return that remains within them, although they can be logical enough to know the danger. The wounds that heal from the crystal encrusted area will retain similar scars to contracture scarring. (Up to players if the wound is debilitating long term)

--Stage IV: Intoxicated will become rooted to the cavern they’re in, refusing to leave. They’re still themselves, but their memories are only filled with how wonderful the Ridge is. The life within them wanes and becomes heavier- they feel blissful, but have no will to eat or leave, becoming aggressive to those that try to force them out. Within grounds -Those severely injured grow larger and larger crystals from their wounds within days. After a gradual week’s time, the crystal fully consumes their bodies, becoming a giant geode crystal grave. What remains of the living body is trapped within, slowly dying… yet they will never feel pain during the crystal-decay process. At this stage, only a miracle is able to reverse their suffering. The intoxidated is presumed lost.


THE LONGTERM
Those who are deeply infected by the Crystal-Shroud due to proximity of its explosion, but survived its death, retain a permanent effect that cannot be healed by arcane means.

[Cryo Grave Effect] Within the target is a Crystalline toxin that was imbed deep into their lungs and is unable to be extracted. It dwells into their skin and gives them the effect of flecks of purple within their iris. They feel as themselves, but if they ever die, their bodies will burst with shards of crystals outwards, consuming the whole corpse. Creating a Crystal Gravestone of where the body dies. This effect ends if the body is created a new. Electric Fortune Elz
