Vermella Worship FAQ

Gaby

Lord of Altera
Hrmm, what might they view "Justice" as? Obviously they do not spill blood, but would the group over all have a code of "Justice" or is it the universal justice we all tend to go by today?
ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh
I know @Tybalt will want to see this!
this will likely be the most controversial opinion the Followers of Vermella have. the most. by far.

---
Justice is unnecessary. punishment is not needed.
to the followers, "justice" is but another word for vengeance, and vengeance is petty.
vengeance is anger without cause. it leads to violence, to the spilling of red.

all living things, even red-spillers, are deserving of respect. the Law of Red does not exist to exact justice on the unjust world.
it exists as a singular law for the devout to follow so that they can learn to hold respect for all living things.

the measures taken against red-spillers, the banishment and the preparing to war, are not founded in a desire to punish the evil and sinful.
they are founded, very simply, in a desire to protect your own. your own life, your own kin.
survival will always be more important than revenge.

What is the Vermella followers thoughts on material desires? Seeking physical things, like money? Do they separate themselves from these desires?

Yup... And Tybalt was basically appointed by Vermella as The Guardian of her followers ;)

Interesting thought and approach to it~

you're placing too much importance on yourself.
you were an interloper. one who believes in vengeance, who could have been a threat to those living in Falandraal.
with the intent of protecting the followers, Vermella made you promise to keep quiet about who lived there and where it was.

were you to attempt your justice in Falandraal, you would be seen as a threat, same as any other red-spiller.
sorry :p

tricky question. and one that is... irrelevant, need I say?

once again, its a matter of the reds that founded Vermella worship. living in a "society" thats little more than scattered not-even-families,
the very concept of property and ownership is nonexistent. at least, I assume it is. the Vermella-worshipping villages were basically communal monasteries. all resources are shared. what is wealth?

Falandraal is founded by two halflings. thus, property is a concept in that city (and you can see by how thievery is a crime there). whatever attitudes of material gain they have there will be dictated by halfling culture.

the Followers of Vermella, as they are, have never tackled the concept of greed. it is something that has not made itself relevant. thus, this question remains unanswered.

now, were I to make a prediction...
Salheira Rain-River is currently the Housekeeper. she's the primary interpreter of Vermella's word, and she's the one who understands how the Law of Red works in practice more than anyone else in Altera, having been raised in a village that followed the Law of Red.
Salheira would say that pursuing material wealth is a waste of time. that you do not live life when you devote yourself to amassing wealth. were she exposed to the dangers of greed, she would also say that seeking to gain power and coins is a path that runs opposite to the path of red, as it holds more respect over the nonliving than the living.
better to spend money than save it. better to to have richness of life than richness of your purse.
(there's also the matter of material wants possibly being seen as part of the madness that Jishrim inflicted on humanity.)

of course, this is all speculation on speculation. at the moment, there is nothing stopping a follower from wanting money, and I doubt there ever will be.
