Before anyone jumps to any conclusions as to why this rule is being released, it was not motivated by any single individual, and this thread is not for pointing fingers or justifying why you should be an exception to the rule.
There has become an increasingly common trend of people choosing to play young children, developing strong relationships, and then making dramatic advances in age that detrimentally affect the RP of others on the server. This is not something that we would have wanted to regulate, but every case that's come up has been met with negative responses, sometimes even discouraging other players from playing their characters. These sorts of age-skips are immersion breaking, not only for other people, but also for the player who does them, as absolutely no skills or knowledge can be gained during such timeskips, and this is something that is very difficult, if not impossible, for the folks who choose to do this. Things that break immersion are already mentioned in the King's Law, and we would hope that this would follow common sense, but apparently this is necessary.
For this reason, we are imposing some restrictions on timeskips for characters:
Timeskips are now limited to a rate of 1 character year per week. Note: this is a MAXIMUM. A more sedate rate is highly encouraged. Some alternatives are listed below.
Timeskips should only be done a year at a time.
It should go without saying that it is simply polite to discuss any aging plans with the people who play your character's family members, and those who you most often RP with.
Please keep in mind that no one should be able to force you to age your character if you do not want to.
Some common options for timeskips, listed from fastest to slower:

Some common options for timeskips, listed from fastest to slower:
- 1 character year per real life week. (No timeskips can be faster than this.)
- 1 character year per two real life weeks.
- 1 character week per real life day. (This ends up being 1 character year to 52 real life days.)
- 1 character year per real life year.
