Hey guys I wanted to start a discussion and learn more about fireworks, gunpowder, cannons, and other likewise boom makers. both in reality and more importantly Within holloworld.

Lets start with the reality of the time period. Fireworks of course existed, Most of them were not very elaborate, simply making a loud bang, but some were more interesting than others. If the powder was not tightly packed it produced more of a popping, crackling like you might see with a fire cracker (most common type of firework) But it placed in a stalk of bamboo it created more concussion, With a hole cut in one end... wa la mid-evil thrust!

Diffrent kinds of colored powder was toyed with to create all the ooos and ahhs. All and all useless for anything but starting small fires and signals so it became more of a ceremonial thing that a weapon.

As for Gun powder. Its ingredients where three.

- Sulfur
- Sodium Nitrate (Called saltpeter at the time)
- Charcoal (Most offent from a willow tree)

I could go into more detail, but for purely selfish reason I wont.

I have two goals with this thread, Understand staffs limitations on explosive black powders and equivalents.

And gauge interest in providing characters with training in the creation of fireworks IC.
Thanks!

Well....You can get gunpowder from creepers
That was kind of what I wanted to ask, Considering we have IC limitations on Alchemy that say the potion ingredients are different from in game mechanics. So I was curious if this was also the case here.

Dose creeper Gunpowder work the same as crafted gun powder?

Dose crafted gun powder exist considering we live in a world where it falls out of monsters?

Reality vs holloworld.

"Many people associate fireworks with Independence Day, but their original use was in New Year's celebrations. "
Wait- Sorry for being of track, but is this true?
I come from Denmark where it is illegal to use fireworks at any other times than around new years. .o.

In Denmark you can only buy fireworks from 15th december to 31st december.
Then you can fire it from 27th december till 1st january.
._.
Well we got belgium to the south and germany to the east. A lot of illegal firework there and yeah
We can also go and buy it and keep hidden somewhere idk

I think this was supposed to be about the ability to use fireworks in Hollowworld and the interest of characters learning to use fireworks, rather than a discussion on the proper time of year for using them.

They were first used by the Chinese I believe. Yeah they were used for New Years First. But they can really be associated with any holiday equally.

I would like to note that Creepers do exist in character outside of the Sorrows. We fought them in the Exodus, nearly was the end of Archaeus, Dayter, and Leminth at one point. And the Sorrows do exist in character. I'm 99% sure that all mobs have lore behind them by now. @Michcat @Naelwyn

I would assume that the actual explosive substance would come from grinding up the flesh of creepers, considering it's supposedly dry and flakey, instead of it just 'falling out of' them. Then that substance would be our equivalent of gunpowder. At least, that's what makes sense to me.

But fireworks aren't really weapons right? [Not that I didn't use them as weapons when I was younger]
