Sell Me On Your Faction/Group

Jak

I'm looking to create a new character to replace Drake, and to be honest have very little idea as to where I'd like to start. I've been mulling over multiple ideas, but none have struck me as particularly compelling, especially without involvement in a group or faction. I've looked into multiple factions, have a pretty decent understanding of what they represent, but I may have overlooked a group or aspect of a group that would really interest me.

So I'm asking you, the people, to sell your faction/group to me in as many words as you want, in any style you want.

This also serves a side purpose of seeing what sort of diversity we have on the server with regards to culture and that.

Thanks in advance.

I'm obliged to mention my own (and fairly new) House Rosemont. The group is fairly small, with there being only three of us.
Rosemont is a vassal house to Hallon within the outskirts of Anhald and the ruling family is made up of mainly Silver Elves. I personally wish to use that fact as a staging ground to push my main character away from the dynamic of being 'human+' and give them a better sense of personality. The Elven superiority ideal is something I eventually want to start when the timing is right for it.
On the OOC side of things, I work in EST and am available most days, so schedules should not be a large issue, especially with summer coming soon.
Anyways- that's my two cents on the matter.
Best of luck.
(I typed this on mobile, excuse any spelling issues )

I'll bring up the Guardians. They're a supranational organization with the explicit mission statement of protecting Altera from existential threats. Largely a research group, the Guardians also recruit fighters into their ranks to deploy experimental weapons against demonic incursions with a high success rate.

Joining the Guardians means one has to assume a number of responsibilities, but they also get to use cutting edge equipment available nowhere else due to its prototypical nature.

I suppose I have about three or four factions to vouch for..

Firstly, Silveira, a Spanish culture based in the deserts. While much if the focus is in the expansion and creation of versatility towards Caparii, it's truly an any race type of culture. Its influenced by real world Spanish influences and how its vibrancy and energy spark up the culture itself. Of course the head of the faction is Ruu

Second, Brit's inquisitors. He has spoken to me about his desire to make something that's truly based on religion and how it can affect the world around you. Its focus is in that while holding Lavoyard culture, since they married into the family of the fallen empire. It can be strong for new players at first, but it's something older players will likely settle into quicker.

Thirdly, my Moor elves. While I'm not particularly active on Lilly at the moment, it's still a faction I hold dear. Its basis is on the importance of clans and kinship over the other races. Yes, they can be racist but that's not all that defines them. They are wellspoken, and regal in their own right. They hold true to their values and arent ones to back down without a proper reason or a well drawn fight.

Fourth, I have the organization within the Ruby Isles, called the Guardians of Wisdom. Given Lilly's affinity to Shalherana, I haven't taken it up too much due to that being Silas' realm. They are simply a group of scholars there to gather information on arcane, divine, and worldly knowledge altogether. They hold the purpose of teaching this knowledge to the world and keeping secrets from anyone, as does Silas' doctrine mention. They still do hold other ideals that is best learned through interaction with them.

A warband consisted of cultures, races, and creed from all throughout the Eastern Kingdoms that hail from- as it stands, in the Southern Lands. While originally seen as a force that is meant to do naught but steamroll through innocent settlements, those found themselves to be abhorringly wrong. They've turned from a mercenary guild to an order that has consistently grown to the point of being a benevolent force in the south bent on unifying the lesser settlements- by reason or by force; autocratic military order really with the guise of being a pseudo-deithic in their worship of the God of War.

The people OOC are pretty chill but minding ur P's and Q's in the discord would be a necessity.

On the contrary to my other one, the culture of Skraag worshippers is always open to more.

Join the Asrakosians? We’re very much a city-state intent on focusing on the arts and other facets of culture. I’m also exploring various Asrakosian philosophies to flesh everything out a bit more.

We have a unique (and apparently controversial) view of the Gods and tend to be a bit more socially progressive than other cultures.

We’ve a small dialect based on Greek, Latin and Italian, with formal and informal words.

Astrakhan is based on an environment that is in between the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, so it’s been a bit difficult for the Asrakosians to get used to- though the resources are still typically Mediterranean- olives, wine, spices, fish. We’re also rather environmentalist, with goals on maintaining the natural landscape but also creating a typical, Romanesque style city, complete with aqueducts, an ampitheater and apartments.

We’re based on Classical Greeks and Imperial Rome, but also the later “Byzantine” Empire.

We’re still very small as I need to add more plots, but with more enthusiastic people, we could become a thriving urban area.

While we’re generally a peaceful people, once we have walls and a central, fortified area, I’ll be trying to reinstate the Legion.

After the recent wars, the Asrakosians are trying to rebalance their way of life to once again live in moderation. The idea of an independent peoples is strong, but the loss of Valerius has forced them to take a moment and think on how one ought to conduct themselves when meeting other foreign powers.

That was a bad summary bc I’m about to go to class but here’s a link to the culture. To get to Astrakhan, go to Mockingbay’s nobility section and take the boat with blue and white sails. :)

I hope I’ve at least sparked some interest, though I know we’re not the biggest or the strongest faction by any means.

Lemme add to this.

The reality of Silvian Culture is not based on a single race or most favoured races, it is a hybrid culture consisting of many and diverse races of any the player desires to play while still grasping the cultural mindset if they do choose to be an irl Hispanic individual. Example; You can be an Earthspawn or Makani with a Silvian cultural background. The Silveira faction and the culture itself is entirely Spain based, no mixture, no cross breeding of other countries. While my research and knowledge on Spain has helped me greatly, I also find some things are terribly similar to the current factions and cultures existing in HollowWorld, thus with a little bit of extra study and research, I come up with, some simple to regard, differences to attempt a more increase of diversity. The Dialect is also irl Spanish with a steady production of words monitored by Cukie1 since she speaks it.

So this isn’t to say I’m asking to join a culture or faction, it’s to say if you wanna be a sombrero moustache guitar playing Hispanic person, you can.

I’ll add another two cents, I think once you start rp’ing with people to represent their faction/culture/whatever the hell people are doing, you’d have a decent idea of how it runs first hand and all. That’s just me.
