Green horned monsters with claws that slowly will claw the dreamers eyes out in their dream, and slowly enter their body in a ghost like fashion.
Yet..they awake unharmed.
Residents taking pilgrimage in the Gallian Forests are exhibiting signs of demon like possession, yet there are no demons.
Those who sleep wake up, altered.
Fatigue
Mood swings
Irritability
Blood Lust
These lands are known for its ritual animal sacrifice. There is no secret of these practices.
Has someone however, awaken a spirit of the forest?
Those plagued by possession tell tales of it fading after
leaving the area for a week. Yet the parasite finds a new host.

I'm ready to host my real first DM event. Looking for any players who want to go to the ritual site in Gallia and encounter a possessed elf. Your mission is two fold:

Defeat the being either in combat or talk it out of the area.
