This is the tale of Cask's Folly, the ruins of a once magnificent airship that flew on the magic of the Old World, before Queen Grief's demise. What remains of the airship overlooks the Free City of Scourge.

They’d made it out alive.

The scene of the Exodus was but a speck on the horizon, tinged brilliant reds and oranges as the sun set. Queen Grief wouldn’t reach them here, somehow, they had managed to escape with their lives. Captain Cask and his crew were exhausted, but desperation drove them on, the large airship gliding through the darkening skies. Stars twinkled above as the dwarven Captain dropped below deck to rest for a few hours, his first mate taking control for the time being. He laid on his bunk, kicking his boots off and closed his eyes.

“Land ho!”

The cry was echoed across the deck by the excited crew members, followed by the pounding of feet on the stairs leading to where Cask reseted.

“Cap’n!” The man called from the bottom of the stairs. “Lands been spotted!”

The Captain sat up slowly, a smile spreading his features as the man turned and went back to the deck. Cask pulled on his boots and hurried to take the helm, looking at the distant landmass.

“Are we landing there, Cap’n?”

“That we are.” Cask exclaimed with a broad grin, those three words seemingly invigorating the crew.

As they neared, the landmass grew clearer and landmarks were able to the picked out. The most obvious being a huge volcano, definitely something to avoid. The airship shook and jolted suddenly, sending those on board sprawling as it began to lose altitude.

“What’s going on?!” Cask shouted as the crew scrambled about, searching for the source.

Multiple unsure replies were yelled as the dwarves scurried to and fro. There was no sign of damage visible anywhere. The ship gained speed as it fell through the sky, the only thing slowing it were the balloons. The side of a mountain raced toward them and the Captain cupped his hands around his mouth.

“Brace yourselves, lads! It’ll be a rough landing!”

Every crew member braced themselves the best they could as the airship slammed into the mountainside, sending dwarves flying through the air and down the other side of the mountain. The hull dug deep into the earth, dirt clumps and rocks tumbling from the sheer force. Wood creaked and splintered as it was ripped open in places, cargo tumbling out of the lower holes. The sound of the impact echoed through across the landscape and faded, silence once again returning to the area, Cask’s Folly now a permanent fixture in the mountainside.
