[Federal Empire] The Imperial Crown

Valonyx

Lord of Altera

(again, thematic soundtrack at the end)

III
Thou shalt respect those who are wealthy and powerful, for they are such due to the grace of the Light.

What is a Praetor’s duty?
To serve l’Impérateur’s will.
What is the l’Impérateur’s will?
That you serve your duty.

In the very heart of L’Empire, beneath the walls of the largest of castles, sits one of the two mortals which answer only to Ignis, the holder of the Crown, the Impérateur. The Impérateur stands as the highest political authority of all that is the realm, and also as a most holy and mighty position. Thee who holds the office of Caesar would expect to be widely respected and brought to face with extreme humility. The Caesar is one who would very rarely move out of the center of the Imperium, and if so, with near immense entourage. There must always be an Impérateur sitting over the realm, for his presence is what keeps darkness at bay and order upon all mortals.

As the most serene post in all of the lands, the Caesar is expected to be unique amongst men, born of Purple from the most noble of families of the realm, a prodigue of strategos and philosophia. The current Impérateur’s hands amongst the citizens are the Primarchs, his sons and daughters, bearing the unique purple vision, sign of Arcturian blood. Their word is law, and their actions are the will of the Caesar.

In the case of an Impérateur’s death, as stated in the main thread, the ring of Electors would convey to name a successor. Furthermore, certain characteristics of the Empire, such as the Primarchs and the Praetors, depend solely on the national identity of the holder of the Imperial Crown (may it be a northern, southern or middle Imperator).

(to clear confusion, Caesar is the more commonly used word (old Arcturian) to speak of the Impérateur, especially in non-core Turien (Lavoyard) branches)

The Praetor Guard

“Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.”

‘’The position of Praetor is a unique duty bestowed unto only a few men in the Realm. While these men are not required to be the greatest of fighters or a living legend, what makes their importance and sanctity is their unending loyalty for the purple throne. The Praetors stand as the most highly seen protectors of the Impérateur, and could be considered the personal bodyguards of said ruler. They wear some of the finest equipment the Turien industries can produce. It is considered a very honorable position to occupy in the Empire.

Praetors answer solely to the Impérateur, and are chosen by himself alone. They are bound together by their undying faith to the Impérateur, and would sacrifice their own life in his defense. Unless relieved by the Impérateur, they serve for life. It has been custom that a maximum of only five men are appointed, though the Impérateur holds at his discretion the ability to name more. In matters of security for the Impérateur, they are the highest authority, his life of the utmost importance. They stand beside him, enforce his will, and preserve his secrets.’’

-Praetor Cantonus Chivay

The Praetors form the core of the conservative values of the Federal Empire, and it is ill-advised to attempt to disobey or act in an agressive manner towards a Praetor on duty.
