"And on this day of the Second of Fogwater, His Majesty Charles the first of Anhald has decreed a Holy Inquisitorium be gathered from among the faithful to cleanse the stench of heresy from these god-given lands."
Much like a forest following heavy rains, the lands are silent in the wake of the gods. Some claim they depart for concern of the stability of the mortal realm; they will not fool us. We speak of the DIVINE, who would not be such should petty considerations not lie within their omnipotence. No, their silence bears the heavy weight of ire, for at every turn there are those that would tread upon the holy word of the Divine Law. This itself is defiance of such, and scripture dictates it is to be purged in sacred flame.
-Lady Inquisitor Jacqueline D'Evreaux
(Disclaimer: This organization is player driven and holds no association to the lore-supported division of the High Church)

  • The Inquisition exists as an institution to enforce the Divine Law irrespective of political, social, or at times self-preservative consequences. Under the charge of the fiercely zealous Lady Jacqueline, Altera can expect a militant organization with alarmingly irrational rigidity in adhering to the exact words of the Divine Law. True to the spirit of "rooting out heresy wherever it may lie" and "dogmatic support of limitless jurisdiction," this is seldom an unintrusive organization. Compliance is expected, and likely to be considered offense to the Divine if it is not granted.
  • (Read: If towns are amenable OOCly, The Inquisition is likely going to pay visits and investigate for heresy. Probably will not be overly polite in-character, but we're all kindly fellows out-of-character so please don't hesitate to talk to us.)

  • The Inquisition comprises two provisional branches: martial and clerical. The former administers the physical force needed for the operation of the Inquisition, where the latter preserves the integrity of the faith and performs general support duties as needed. Both divisions follow simple ranking structures with parallel equivalence; an entry level rank that requires supervision lest they accidentally damn themselves, a graduated rank with assumed competence, and a single leader for each branch with authority over all beneath them.

  1. Initiate: Introductory rank for those in military service. Prowess in combat is a mixed pot depending on the recruit's individual experience. Primary distinction between this and the graduated rank is that Initiates are not yet trusted to perform inquiries and trials independently. As such, they work with and are often squired to graduated
  2. Inquisitors.Inquisitor: Graduated rank for those in military service. Inquisitors are expected to be able to deal with whatever assault the foul heathens may launch, and are issued the requisite equipment that they may require in such endeavors. Inquisitors are tasked with actively seeking heretics and presiding over any trials necessary to determine guilt. Commonly (read: are expected to) assume a mentoring role to one or more Initiates.
  3. High Inquisitor: Head of the martial division and one of two executive officers over the entire Inquisition. Disposition depends on current occupant of this position; Lady Jacqueline is stricter than a vegan diet and demands both obedience and results.

  1. Laity: Introductory rank for clergy. Specific responsibilities are dependent upon individual skills, though members can expect to be tasked with assistance in religious ceremonies, maintaining facilities under the supervision of a priest, or performing general upkeep and cleaning duties.
  2. Priest/Priestess: Graduated rank for clergy. Expected to lead sermons, take confession, perform high-level support duties as needed by martial branch, and administer trials should an Inquisitor be unavailable. Often required to supervise laity.
  3. Head Cleric: Head of clerical division and second of two executive officers over the entire Inquisition.

  • Uphold the Divine Law at any cost.
  • Do what is necessary, though keep respect for those not in violation of the Law.
  • Maintain personal ability to perform Inquisitorial duties with maximum efficacy.
  • Keep respect to the chain of command, though do not excuse them of misdeeds.
  • (OOC) Major excursions into foreign towns while not in direct pursuit of a suspect should be discussed with the owners and set up as an event.
  • (OOC) Pertaining to punishments as dictated by the Divine Law: Those convicted of blasphemy get one "free pass" for avoiding their character's tongue being removed, with the mis-adherence to the Divine Law glossed over in-character. Rather, this comes with the mutual agreement to adhere to the spirit of the law; convicted character won't disperse further blasphemous words, and the Inquisition will consider their sentence filled.

Just as a question-are you going to list the towns that are "safe" or "unsafe"? Or is that private knowledge unless a town/city/kingdom owner asks in private?

And what about formor heritics who have redeemed themselves and started worshiping the Patheon again? Are they still "person's of interest" or no?

Whoop! We'll probably coordinate that privately.

The current administration is pretty strict on this regard- only times she's considered former heretics as "redeemed" is if one of the Pantheon explicitly indicated their favor for them.
Also: Does this look good for a banner for you guys?:

Could I ask in a Private message then?

Ah! It wasn't for my character-it was for others who where formor heritics.

I know it's Game of Thrones...but it's all I can do.

Sure! Though if you're lookin' for a list, Inquisition just started up and we haven't gotten that far yet. xD

A part of me wants to see this be successfull, while another part is afraid of the idea of this being successfull.

Holy Ignis, I can't wait for what's going to happen in the future with this.

I approve, because it reminds me of Lavoyard! ;)
