Greetings Newcomer,

Because our server can seem vast and daunting at first, I would like to take this opportunity and explain to you how our server works. Normally we would refer you to our Tome of Citizenship. However with all the new changes that 1.0 brought us, it has proven difficult to keep it up to date. Updating the entire Tome is a grand task indeed, one that we were waiting to do until everything has settled down on the server. It is still a great read and it is highly recommended to do so, 75% of it is still valid: http://hollowworld.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-tome-of-citizenship-players-guide.2625/

As you will know we are a roleplay server. This is our first and foremost objective, to provide players with a wholesome roleplay experience. All effort is put into allowing players as much creativity as possible and being able to enjoy Minecraft to its fullest. We are not looking to significantly alter the inheret minecraft experience. The devil however is in the 'as much as possible'. Because of players who are intent on disrupting other peoples gaming experience and because of the potentials of drama you get whenever you put a lot of people together in one place, we have had to install a number of modifications to the way our server works.

The power of our server lies in its community. A building in minecraft is just a building, bare and cold. On our server cities and towns really come to live when most people in the town are logged on and actively engaged in roleplay. The things we build then have a meaning. The Skara Brae really comes alive when you try out their different ales, the Uthrandir classroom when class is being taught etc.

So how does one play on Hollow World? When you join the server you spawn in Brustenburg. This is a roleplay town that is free to join for anyone. We are still looking for a way to allow people to place signs and use chests within the town, but as of yet there has not been any luck. So for now you will have to ask the mayor to invite you to the join should you wish to join it. Eventually you will have to settle down in any of the other towns of our server. Other than using /spawn we do not have any teleports on our server. Behind the tavern in Brustenburg you can take a 'ship' that will take you to Port Silver, our capital. You spawn on the opposide side of the docks. Walk in a straight line through Port Silver and you will end up at the docks. From there you can board any of the ships and these will take you to all the wonderful towns on our server. Look through the Altera Census to view all the different towns: http://hollowworld.co.uk/index.php?forums/altera-census.43/

Some towns might have more roleplay than others, just as some people are more interested into roleplay than other people. While we are a roleplay server, not everyone is forced to roleplay aslong as they respect and do not interrupt other peoples roleplay. There are many towns on our world that do a lot of active roleplaying so keep looking if you don't find what you're looking for! Also keep in mind some towns might have players from different timezones.

You earn money on our server to complete quests. More and more quests are being added. Currently there are two quests in the sorrowlands and two quests in Breakwater village. Seek these out. The Sorrowlands is our resource world. It is a world that is as close to vanilla minecraft as possible. Firespread and explosions are turned on and there are no rules. From spawn there is a 250 block radius of no-build zone, and a 500 block radius of no PVP. Outside of that anything is allowed. However everything you build is subject to griefing and creeper explosions, it is not meant for permanent settlement. It is a world for you to gather resources and experience vanilla minecraft. The world is also deleted and re-generated on a new seed every 2-4 weeks.

You can access the Nether through the basement of the Brustenburg Inn. We turned off player portals because our world is so immense, it would make the Nether too large.

The rest of the information in the Tome of Citizenship should still be accurate. I just wanted to provide some up-to-date information to you guys until our Tome is updated.

I couldn't for the life of me think of a good way to transport players into Fotress Naught. I can take them to the island by ship, but I can't get them from the island onto the floating fortress. A bridge wouldn't look very good I think. Plus I was in a hurry so I just stuck something in the basement for now :p

What about a giant cannon? Which can be entered and players would be "shot" to the floating fortress? :p
