I was a child soldier. [Gore~]

This technically isn't fan fiction, but hey :) I'm writing this for English on my iPad in pages, so decided to post it on here! Hope you like!

As I stand there, listening to the gunfire of the enemy I want to run, but know that if I do I shall be shot. I don't move, I just stand there staring, I feel cold hard metal being shoved into my back to shove me forward. I don't want to move. "Move, child!" A voice with a hard, ugandan accent speaks from behind me. Then yet again the cold metal shoving me. That's the end of a gun being pushed into my back to make me move, I do as I am told. Because if I don't I'll be beaten. I walk towards the barricades at the front of the camp from where the rebels are shooting. The man hands me a gun and shoves me forward towards a small, dirty tent.

There are others in here, other children. The man selects a few more children and then makes us line up, making sure we're all armed. We're walked down the side of the barricades and to where they stop, other rebels are waiting for us there. We move in a large group, us in front of the soldiers. Eventually we come to a large dusty field, I can tell it is a minefield by the way the soldiers are making sure they do not go within 10 metres of it. They're going to make us walk over it to clear the mines. "Walk." The rebel who appears to be in command says, shoving the boy at the front of the line. We all walk in a straight line, but once we get incredibly close to it, we are told to spread out. I take a step forward, waiting to hear a clicking noise. I don't. Suddenly there is a deafeaning boom from across the field and a scream of pain. I close my eyes as they sting with tears.

Luck. That's the only reason you're still alive. I think. I sit here in this stuffy, smelly, concrete room chewing on stale bread. I turn my head towards the door and see a small girl, about 8, attempting to run out the door. She makes it out the door but not for long, I hear gunshots and a scream of terror and pain, then silence. They shot her. They shot an 8 year old girl because she wanted freedom. They wouldn't have shot a boy, they find girls a lot less useful apparently.

We are escorted out of the mess hall, and taken to the barricades, I'm handed a gun. We all are. They tell us to move. Move onto the battlefield. 10 minutes later I'm on the battlefield hiding in the long grass. A large shape appears in the bush in front of me, it's a soldier. An enemy soldier. I bring the gun up shakily. And pull the trigger. I imagine the bullet slicing through the flesh and shattering the bone of the man's leg. I imagine his screams of pain as he bleeds in the grass. But I don't hear them. I missed. Thank god.. I turn and start to run, running back towards the rebel base as what sounds like hellfire rains down on me. I get back to base. Suddenly gunfire rings out from the rebels. I look towards the grass. Blazing guns. Bullets ring out from the grass and tear through the air. I jump to the ground and the rebels continue shooting into the grass. Then one rebel pulls a small, round, metallic ball from his belt. I clamber up the hill, crawling quickly. He's got a grenade.

Now that mess is over, I have been brought to the commander. "She is to be executed." His words are harsh. As he said this, my face goes pale and my eyes go wide. The next day, I'm given my last meal. Then I'm taken outside and my hands are tied. I look over to the door of the mess hall as I'm pushed to my knees, standing there is my best friend. He looks nervous and sad, but then he appears to get an idea. He turns and runs inside. What he's doing I don't know. I feel cold metal getting pushed against the back of my head, then pulled away slowly. That's the gunman getting his aim right. "Aim to the brain." One rebel sais. I glare at him and he smirks evily. "Three, Two.." Before he coup say one a gunshot rings out and the executioner falls dead, the commanding rebel turns to where it came from and is shot in the head. "Aim for the brain, that's what you told us." Sais a cocky voice, I recognise it as my friends voice. He runs over and pulls me up, telling me there's no time for cutting the restraints on my wrists at the moment. We run into the long grass and disappear before the rebels can get us.
