=== BREAKING NEWS ===

Legisa was thrown into chaos yesterday night with the sighting of the Krazyet Comet, which religious officials from the Church of the Black Star have claimed is yet another sign of the "Black Prophecy" being completed. In response to the sighting, many black-gowned members of the church marched through Legisa's capital of Novigród, chanting praises to the Black Star. Thankfully, cooperation between Archbishop Dymetrios and the Legisian Police Chief allowed the march to continue while remaining peaceful.

Later that evening, Archbishop Dymetrios announced publicly that his Ecclesiarchy had found the so-called "Prophet of the Black Star". Aleksander Karadovek II, a member of the once powerful class of nobles. Archbishop Dymetrios convinced his followers in a speech made today that the noble Aleksander has been trained in the art of ruling, and educating in the ways of the Black Star, making him an idyllic candidate to replace Supreme Exarch Drezt.

The Government, which has now identified itself as the Provisional Government of the Consulate and the Honourable Legisian Miltiary (PGCHLM), has warned the Church of the Black Star to desist in what it calls a "treasonous abuse of free speech".

=== BREAKING NEWS ===

The Democratic Republic of Abakan, a miniscule independent nation embedded against Legisa's border, became the centre of attention when its leadership was found to have been systematically purging certain groups of its citizens. Yesterday evening an escaped member of the minority group in Abakan beseeched the Legisian government to intervene and depose the now corrupt and psychotic government. Within hours the Legisian Army mobilised and deployed three battalions to help end the civil conflict.

PhD. Gerzog Ilynch, a Professor of History at Novigrod University explained the conflict to our news team, "For centuries Abakan was primarily governed and populated by the Chezi people, who are not too different culturally to Legisians. The minority group, the Abak, who made up perhaps a third of the population, had always felt unrepresented and were typically hostile to the Chezi. In 1981, the Chezi monarchy suffered a coup d'etat, which installed an Abak as the nation's new leader. The country's name was changed to what it is now, and also turned into a republic. It seems that now, the Abak elite wish to rid themselves of their former oppressors entirely"

(( @ACU20 the minor DR of Abakan would be a nation lying on the Legisian-Senturian border, similar to how Andorra lies between France and Spain on earth. Your government would be aware of the Legsian Army invading the microstate, as tanks and thousands of troops march towards the border. Just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to turn this into something interesting ))

=== BREAKING NEWS ===

Thousands of followers of the Black Star gathered this morning in Novigród's Lyon Park, a large green space overlooked by the Palace of the Exarch, the home of the government. Despite the deployment of the police force to maintain order, relations remained cordial until around 6:00pm when the moon began to loom closer to the setting sun. It was at this point that the sermons given by Archbishop Dymetrios began to stir the crowd more dramatically than before, until finally, the moon eclipsed the sun, shrouding the capital in darkness.

Dymetrios incited his followers to attack, chanting through a megaphone: "Now is the time, sons and daughters of Legis! Witness the Black Star in all his infinitum! Bask in the darkness, and seize your country land!"

The crowd, now cloaked, approached the steps of the palace with ceremonial blades, torches, and religious icons in hand. Despite being commanded to stop by the armed guards, the crowd pressed on until shots were fired, at which point the radical followers of the Black Star charged. Quickly overwhelming the first set of guards, the seemingly infinite crowd chased to the summit of the wide staircase, entering the Palace and taking captive anyone who didn't surrender.

By the time the coup d'etat had ended, so had the eclipse.

Dymetrios, an hour after the event, addressed the public on a hijacked radio station.

"Legisians, whether you be followers of the Black Star or not, be peaceful during this turbulent time, all will be restored, all will be made right. Glory to Aleksander II, Glory to the Black Star, Glory to Legisa"
Those members of the government who weren't captured during the coup have declared a new state of emergency, labelling Dymetrios and Aleksander II as traitors, and the Church of the Black Star as a terrorist organisation.

CIVIL WAR
Two forces have organised themselves after the chaos that ensued following the coup d'etat earlier in the month. 'The Royalist' faction is an army of soldiers loyal to Aleksander II, the proclaimed King of Legisa, they are supported by the Church of the Black Star, and many of the faction's soldiers are members of the faith.

Warring against the Royalists is the Provisional Government, otherwise known as the Consulate. The remaining leadership of the Provisional Government have organised in the heavily fortified city of Pozdem. This faction is supported by God Send, Tajikstan, and Curacha.

Currently the Royalists control the capital, Novigród, and have assumed de facto control over most of the country. Their holdings include Zansven, Ulgart, Layan, and Wyspa, in addition to most territory west of the capital. The Provisional Government has declared Pozdem as the new capital of Legisa, and controls Denpol, Yenikraw, and Stal, in addition to the northern coastline and the territories bordering Senturia.

The Royalists would seem to have the upper hand due to their control over the landscape and popular support, though Aleksander II lacks international allies, and the combined militaries of Curacha, God Send, and Tajikstan could prove to change the tide of battle.

BATTLE UPDATE

Earlier today, King Aleksander II travelled to Layan with a small following of clergymen to deliver a stirring speech to his people. In his speech His Majesty condemned the Provisional Government for forcing "honest sons of Legisa into battle with their own brothers". Following this, King Aleksander II urged his people to finish the fight against the "pretender government", calling for any able bodied Legisians to organise, and overthrow. The speech was concluded with a prayer to the Black Star.

In response to the speech, the citizens of Stal quickly organised under the leadership of key generals, marching upon the City Hall, and ousting the Provisional Government there. After hours of fighting between the massive militia force and the retreating Provisional Army, the city was officially taken, its administration now being run by citizens loyal to the king.

Even with the aid of several international allies the Provisional Government has failed to suppress what at first seemed like a minor insurrection.

THE WAR CONCLUDES

Yesterday King Aleksander II returned from Wyspa after a week long journey to various Royalist occupied cities. On this campaign the leader of Legisa drummed up support for a "final push" against the traitorous Provisional Government. When His Majesty returned to Novigród, he was greeted by news that both Tarjikstan and God Send had brokered peace deals with the Royalists, and were now withdrawing their troops. In response to this, King Aleksander II held an impromptu speech outside the Capital Building.

"Sons and daughters of Legisa, point your arms away from the infantry of God Send and Tarjikstan, for they are no longer our enemies! As they withdraw from our lands, mean them no harm, instead greet them and be courteous, so that they may see that we were not so villainous. With the help of our new ally Natrizima, we shall march upon the final stronghold, and rid our fatherland of the scourge that is their blighted bureaucracy!"

A massive army of citizens and military staff alike have begun a march on Pozdem, leaving through the northern highway leading out of Novigród. His Majesty warned the Provisional Government that if they do not break their alliance with Curacha, surrender Pozdem, and renounce their positions, the city will be taken by force.

VICTORY
By private telegram, King Aleksander II secured a ceasefire with Curacha, who cut all ties with the troops fighting for the Provisional Government. When word reached the Roachen soldiers, they reportedly threw down their weapons, no doubt tired of fighting a losing war for so long. Shortly thereafter, the Provisional Government issued a public declaration of surrender, leading to the prompt seizure of the city and the Provisional Leadership. King Aleksander II declared that the villainous Provisional Government would be given a fair trial before a jury of the people.

Long live the King!

Bold And Dangerous?
Beloved late night variety show, Forget Tomorrow, Drink Today, has become enveloped in controversy concerning a skit in its latest episode. The comedy show is known for its brash and often tastefully offensive humour, though many critics say it crossed a line with yesterday evening's skit set in a satirised version of Arcturix. The skit involved the leadership of Arcturix (played by Lyon Vyana, and Ivana Cheska) failing to be able to solve simple math problems in an attempt to calculate the power of their nation. The pair consistently bad-mouth Mechanica, but then go onto not-so-subtly ask them for help with their conundrum. The skit proved popular with Legisians, but certain critics fear that the comedy routine may worsen relations between the two countries.

DФФMSTAЯ Concert
Since the early 2000s, metal has been a popular genre within Legisa, beginning as a counter movement to the popularity of classical music in the 20th century. In recent years, the genre has become immensely popular among younger generations, as evident by Doomstar 2015, a metal concert scheduled this weekend. Featuring a line up of several Legisian metal bands, the event is expected to garner an audience of over 2 million people, and is being held just outside Novigród. Whether foreign acts will be playing remains to be seen. The Church had this to say, "While we are not fans of the music, we see nothing wrong with teens enjoying themselves".

Flight LA298 crashes in Novigród
Thousands today are in mourning in response to the tragic crash of flight LA298. Reports show that a malfunction in the airship's engines caused a rapid descent into Novigród financial district. Approximately 500 people were killed in the crash, many of whom passengers on flight LA298. While the fires have since been put out, the disaster has taken a toll on the country. King Aleksander II declared hours later that more regulations on such vehicles will be imposed, and that the burden of repairing Novigród and compensating the families of those onboard will be shared between Legisian Airways and the Government.

Sheltering those in need
Archbishop Dymetrios made a public appearance today with the opening of the first of many mental health clinics. After a petition to the government showed how many Legisians were affected by issues such as PTSD, chronic depression, and mild psychosis, the Church of the Black Star rose to the opportunity to help those suffering from mental issues. Currently the charity receives 90% of its funding from the Church, with the remained split between local philanthropists and donations from the community. Mikhail Alzhohev, a veteran of the Uniting Wars who has suffered with PTSD since he was discharged, had this to say: "May the Black Star's blessings be upon the benevolent men of the church, for I was lost without them. Now, I have a place to stay, and someone to talk to whenever I feel like bayoneting the next ******* who looks at me funny".

Artifact deal struck with Tarjikstan
Today marks the end of Caliph Ahalam II's stay in Legisa, as just this morning his mummified remains set off to be returned to Tarjikstan, the Caliph's rightful home. Ahalam II ruled over two thousand years ago, in the territory we now know as Tarjikstan, though his remains were brought to Legisa in 1840 by King Yuri of Layodan. The Layodan King had a fascination with foreign cultures, and boasted the country's largest collection of artifacts, with several rooms in his palace dedicated to their storage. After Legisa's formation, Supreme Exarch Klaudus II ordered his horde of treasures to be transferred to the newly built National Museum, where Caliph Ahalam has been held up until now. The very generous Tarjiki government have shipped a collection of antique Arcturian swords as compensation for the return of the Caliph, while also allowing some of our most esteemed History professors to study in Tarjikstan.

An end to 'Big Brother' surveillance
King Aleksander II has declared that the country from here on out will only be using surveillance camera's in areas where security is a top priority. This includes military bases, the dense downtown of the capital, and several government buildings, whereas less populated areas of the country will be stripped of these invasive cameras. The King's decision has caused a stir in the population, some calling his declaration a great step forward for personal freedom, while others are worried that the lack of security might encourage crime to rise. Whatever the case, the Novigród Police Department has assured the populace that even without the cameras, crime will not seize the city like it had in years prior.
