The test:

Now I believe is as good a time as any, To finally make sense of all that has happened. 10 years at sea, running always running. I suppose it started back home in Viniqua, a fine place to grow up. As much wine and rum as a man could “liberate” and as many women as a man could count. But there was one who was above the rest, that cherry on the Viniguan cake, Lady Alice. Without the long series of events that followed our first meeting I soon found myself accompanying her in her bedchamber . The same time as when the serving girl came to change her linen. That one had some lungs on her i can tell you. “Assassin!” she cried “Thief!”. the one thing left for me to do was to escape the Scaletten guards. It was no easy task but I was soon through their nets. I had nearly given everyone the slip until I went for a nap among the the riggers yard. Next thing I knew, I was on a ship sailing out into Simkin bay, my home slowly falling behind the horizon.

My uncle was to blame for that. He had heard of my “exploits” (as he so often called them) and had found me sleeping in the rigging nets. knowing the Scaletten guards would not forgive me for my “assassination attempt” of Lady Alice, him and his first mate, Fords, (under instruction from my ever worrying mother) captured me and forced my upon my uncle's ship, where I was to become his apprentice. I never thanked my uncle for that, which I have always regretted. For you see, by smuggling me out of the city he also saved my live. Though at the time i didn't appreciate it.

Over the next 4 years I learned to become a true man of the sea. We visited nearly every city on the Satallent coast and every island in Simkin bay. I learned all their was to know about running a ship and trading throughout the golden kingdom. My uncle even confessed to me before his untimely death that he wished to purchase a second ship which I would be in command of. Sadly this was never to be, thanks solely to Captain Russell Red-Hand.

For five months I was in his custody, travelling from port to port, being put up for sale with the other prisoners. Fortunately, few men took interest in me. It was in one of these slave markets were my luck finally changed. We were being escorted back to the ship after a disappointing day at the stands when a disheveled looking man stumbled in front of us into one of our captors “Apologies sir” he said as he straightened himself again before disappearing down the street. “dumb bastard,” the guard began, dusting himself off, “wait a second… he stole my bloody purse!” He took off after the thief, leaving the other guard with us. I looked to him for his reaction but he just continued to stare down the street.

Without thinking, I reached for his crossbow, he turned as I leveled the barrel to his forehead. I will never forget the look he gave me. The next few seconds were a blur, He reached for his cutlass, I pulled the trigger, blood and smoke surrounded me. As soon as he hit the ground, the other prisoners started to loot the dead guard's corpse. Chewey, a tall hairy man, took the keys from the body, unlocking my shackles. He released the rest of the men whilst I searched for a means of escape, we weren’t out of the fire just yet.

A small sloop caught my eye. No crew aboard that I could see, the sails were in good condition, no visible damage to the hull, she was seaworthy and close at hand. Gathering the rest of the men, I explained my plan.

“We’re going to steal a boat, more specifically, that boat.” I said, pointing to the sloop. with that i spotted the first guard returned from his pursuit empty handed. “it’s now or never lads, run for it” i cried.

we charged towards the ship, we all leapt aboard as the guard spotted our escape. he drew his sword and called the the remaining guards on the pier. we all sprung into action, I took the helm as the rest manned the sails and rigging, we soon had her slowly moving away from the pier where she was docked but before we could move any further 3 of red hands crew jumped aboard with their swords drawn...

Hello. That is a lengthy Test- but unfortunately it shows me that you haven't read the Guides. Our server's setting is Medieval Fantasy. This era doesn't have pistols. I'll recommend you quickly peruse the Guides and fix up the Test.

Changing one word doesn't exactly change the context of the whole Test and it's implication of the setting. I'd actually like you to change that whole paragraph and not just one word or two so that I can see that you understand the setting. Crossbows aren't automatically loaded where one can snatch it from someone and "Barrel" someone down in smoke and blood into death. In a roleplaying server, interacting with players and their time reactions is just as important as the story being made. Having a player pluck out a crossbow and just shoot without taking the time to load leans on powergaming. To avoid having a new player lean to such techniques, as roleplay can start as early as when you enter the server- I'd like you to avoid writing about overpowering violence.

Be sure not to change just one or three words and take the time to edit the Test. I'll have another look at it when you're finished.
