Eyes: Decently sized, black pupils take up the center of the eyes while a lemon-like shade of yellow colors the entire rest of it.
Skin: Tough and scaly, of a dark coloration. It's visible on his 'hands' and 'feet', as well as a bit of the lower leg and forearms. His feathers cover a bit further than the average Makani.
Feather Color: Mixed shades of brown, grey and black, ranging from light to dark.
Shape of Face: Owl-like with a short and downward curving beak.
Build of Body: Bulky and strong with his chest, midriff and back being a bit broader, comparatively to other Makani, which also contributes to the heavier weight.
Wardrobe:
Sova prefers to only wear short or knee-length trousers as a casual 'outfit', rarely opting to wear a tunic as well. The colors of these usually only range fromt tans and browns to greys.
For hunting and fighting, unrestrictive leather armor is usually worn. It is mosttly meant for only light protection, focussing on part of the chest area and the upper legs.
With both casual and fighting gear, it's not uncommon for him to wear belts and straps, either for weaponry or to support his quiver and any other pouches or such.
◆Personality◆
Traits:
➤ Observant - Sova continuesly makes use of the Makani's strong eyesight to observe his surroundings and anything else of interest, whether positive or negative. Little escapes his attention as he scans the area, easily doing so with how many degrees he can turn his head around.
➤ Patient - Something Sova learned to have while learning how to hunt, he has now gone as far as to adapt it into many situations that could range from combat to daily dealings. This applies to whether he is patiently waiting for the right opportunity against prey or threats, to just having the patience to endure the antics of his more rambunctious kin.
➤ Protective - Regardless of being a guardian, Sova intends to keep his kin as safe as possible, standing up for them and defending or warding off potential threats when neccesary.
➤ Selfless - Sova has a 'last to leave the burning building' mentality, being one of the first to stand up for his kin while also being one of the last to back off, preferring to ensure the safety of others before his own regardless of most risks.
➤ Stoic - While having been more bright-eyed and idealistic in the past, Sova has taken on a more serious and composed stance with how unpredictable and harsh the world can be.
➤ Strong Willpower - While not fearless, Sova tends to not easily take flight and instead is able to make himself stand up against uneven odds and dire situations, especially so if it is for the sake of his fellow Makani.
Values:
➤ Duty & Responsibility - Sova takes his own duties and responsibilities seriously, preferring his kin to do so the same for the sake of their society and the betterment of their race. Though with their home and leadership gone... things may become harsher for all very soon.
➤ Kin & Clan - Sova values his own kin above all else, even himself, dedicating himself as a YaVei to the betterment of his fellow Makani first and foremost.
➤ Training & Excercise - Keeping oneself in top physical shape is important as a YaVei, not just as a protector but also as a hunter.
Dislikes/Fears:
➤ Deep bodies of water - Their dark and unknown nature are unsettling to Sova, as if they are an endless abyss waiting to drag in any unfortunate soul that is caught in the water itself. The fact various unknown creatures could be living inside said dark abyss is all the more worrisome.
➤ Failure - More so applicable to himself, Sova does not wish to fail his duties or his kin, especially if their lives are at stake. Harm or deaths caused against his kin while they're under his protection, hits the Makani himself deeply now that their home is lost along with most of their guidance and leadership figures.
➤ Groundlings - Like most of his kin and especially as a guardian, Sova keeps a judging and unsettling gaze on any groundlings near him or his kin as he observes their behaviour and antics with great wariness and prejudice.
Strengths:
➤ Floating - Makani can float when needed due to light bones, though Sova certainly doesn't enjoy making use of this perk.
➤ Gliding - Wings can be used to glide certain distances. Sova's glide distance has a minor reduction due to his weight and physique, causing him to descend a little faster than the average Makani.
➤ Grip/Climbing - Makani are able to grip and perch on cliffs and other things, also aiding them with climbing. While Sova's gliding and such is diminished, he is able to keep a better grip than the average Makani, his climbing capabilities also slightly better.
➤ Head rotation - The head can be fully turned back without moving the body
➤ Lift - Flapping the wings can enable the average Makani to gain a foot or two, though this is somewhat diminished for Sova due to body weight.
➤ Superior vision - Makani have a precise vision for long distances.
Weaknesses:
➤ Expressiveness - Due to their bird-like heads, Makani cannot show expressions in the way that the other races do.
➤ Fragile bones - Even if Sova is physically stronger (comparatively to other Makani), he still has to mind the fragile state of all Makani bones.
➤ Poor Hearing - Makani suffer from a vastly reduced clarity on their hearing, possessing only earholes compared to other races.
Reduced scent - Makani don't possess keen smelling abilities.
➤ Unmoving Eyes - Eyes can't be moved in the same way as other races, requiring entire head to move instead.
➤ Xenophobic - While not as visibly or vocally open on his distrust for other races, Sova remains very observant and on high alert when in the vicinity of non-Makani creatures, humanoid or not. This is amplified if other Makani are nearby as well, due to his protective nature.

General Attitude: He tends to be more silent and observant than most others, his eyes having the habit of narrowing with a unnerving and suspicious gaze at anyone and anything he doesn't fully trust. Towards his own kin, he acts more social and responsive, though he usually remains less talkative than most.

◆Combat◆
Peaceful or violent:
When neither him or his kin are in immediate danger, Sova prefers to stay his distance while observing potential threats, any points of interest or caution, even just groundling behaviour in general.
When there are threats present or the situation turns dire, Sova is usually one of the first to stand up for his fellow Makani and the last to take his leave, taking a defensive stance first depending on the nature of the threat. Otherwise, he aims to take no risks and would rather subdue if not remove the threat itself for the safety of his kin, even against uneven odds.

Combat Training:
➤ Archery - Sova's favored means of hunting and fighting, he mainly uses shortbows for hunting while longbows have been more favored for other situations. He makes ample use of his long-distance vision and his arm strength in the latter case in order to keep a secure distance.
➤ Hand-to-hand - Only used in desperation, Sova tends to refrain from tussling with claw and talon, preferring the effectiveness of actual weapons. If neccesary though, he favors his talons as expected, and they do have a decent amount of strength when used right.
➤ Knives - Not really a means to commonly use for combat and instead are mostly wielded for quick strikes or as a last resort by Sova. The more common use he has for knives are for hunting related uses or to deal a mercy stroke.
➤ Spears - When it comes to dealing with threats on the ground or at least from closer proximity than would be comfortable to use a bow in, the spear has become the second favored weapon for Sova. Even being a strong Makani, he isn't a tank and still suffers from the same fragile bones of his kin. Spears have offered the means to keep threats at bay while keeping a comfortable distance between them and the Makani, not risking himself to be as easily hit as shorter weaponry would permit.
◆Abilities◆
Main:
➤ Butchery - A complimentary skill he learned as a hunter, mainly to understand how to prepare and cut apart game, if not how to preserve it when needed as well.
➤ Combat - See previous section.
➤ Foraging - As a hunter, Sova spent more time on hunting game than foraging, but he still knows how to tell edible and helpful plants from dangerous one.
➤ Hunting - Sova's previously main occupation, still done plenty now to provide for his kin and as a hobby. He can be a very patient hunter, preferring to wait for the right moment to take out prey as swiftly as possible.
Mobility:
➤ Climbing - Better than average (comparative to other Makani)
➤ Gliding - About as much control as the average Makani, but somewhat below average distance due to weight and favoring physical prowess.
➤ Grip/Claw&Talon Strength - Forgoing the perks of a lighter frame or at least better gliding capabilities, Sova has favored physical strength and grip more for both hunting and protecting. This also helped his climbing ability even if it negative impacted his limited gliding.
➤ Swooping - While preferring the reach of a spear or bow, Sova doesn't shy away from making use of the grip and strength of his talons to strike down at either prey or viable targets, usually ending his glide prematurely in the process.
Other:
➤ Beak Maintenance - Sova likes his beak in tip top shape, it makes tearing apart a yummy treat all the more pleasant.
➤ Feather Preening - A lot of care goes into taking care of ones feathers and as someone who is the most likely to get into a scuffle or few with prey or threats, Sova makes sure he's as prim and proper as a bird can be any other time.
