They assaulted us right out of the gate.

We never stood a chance.
Tauredal was up in flames before we even knew what was happening.

And I shudder at the fate of Stormhold.

The People of Altera were... are strong... but this level of organization I have not seen from the armies of Grief since the First War.
And there were millions of us then.
The First War broke us into a mere shadow of what we were.

Grief mostly employed specialists and officers. When they took the field, they left carnage in their wake.

I can only hope the Kings will help us.

*Duke Arcturus III stares upon the wounded, in the infirmary tent. He seems relieved, but still somewhat confident. Next to him stands Commander Brogan and General Storm, officials of the 1st Legion, the elite arcturian regiment sent to support Queen Leminth in her crusade agaisnt Grief.*

''General Storm, we must drill the men. Regroup as much as possible of the Legion, and also as much mercenaries, adventurers and royal soldiers as you can find. Organize regiments, start discussing guerilla tactics, since it is rather obvious this war won't be fough on an open field like I would like it to be. We must make ready''
''Commander Brogan, get the golden throne's guard ready to intervene, we will keep them as a backbone in case of emergency. We also must start to prepare the cavalry, as her majesty wishes, while lord Kharn is in charge of fortifying the warcamp and Ballistaes are being built.''

*turns and walks outside the tent, then stops and watches at the somewhat ragtag army, mixing legionnaires of his own, crown's soldiers, cromarcky's mercenaries, freeloaders and other man-at-arms from around the realm*
