There was a ringing noise, at first impact, which only worsened with the second. Even after staggering from a crawl into an unsteady walk; it seemed the insistent sound would just not stop, as it continued to spitefully buzz on. Stumbling onward, she brushed her hand over the side of their head and found with vague alarm it came dripping away with a bright, hot liquid. The absent thought that suddenly came to mind was a grim reminder of her circumstances. Blood.

The wooden planking underneath the her feet seemed unsteady, wailing underneath her weight with a hollow creak. In the distance, somewhere overhead, there was a sudden shout and a clatter. It came to her ears as no more than the whispering breezes that rolled over her skin, blowing the steady rivulets of blood trickling down her chin down onto the deck below. The roaring of the ringing was more than a church bell's clang! As her vision began to grow fuzzy, ears hot - it all became a little much to bear. Yet still, a stubborn nature within dictated defiance: clenching her hands into violent fists. fueled on fury, she continued forward.

It was with a lurching sigh and a sudden spurt that she finally toppled over a few moments later. She went out cold as her skull made a final, third impact with another unforgiving surface.

Everything was dark.

The rocks underneath her bare skin were cool to the touch, soothing. Her head still felt hot, but for the life of her - she couldn't remember why. Simply exhausted, the husk of a woman laid there for a few minutes; relaxing within the peaceful, empty feeling that shortly washed over her. There was nothing. Not even a lick of information came to her, though she tried - something, anything - but for some reason, that fact was more comforting than it was alarming.

After another deep breath in, a voice came to her. Whispers. With a certain slowness, she finally rose to sit up and observe the dim, ebbing glow that came from the sounds of trickling water nearby. It sloped onward, and into darkness below. Fixated by the fascinating sight, she observed in silence; processing the strange voice, before she slowly rose to her feet and stood tall. Something about it was familiar.

An innate urge came to her, then. Onwards, she paced towards the endless glow coming from further within before she knew to question it.

"Jump." It said. Though her legs briefly froze up in hesitation, it was not long before that same instinct took over. The ground beneath her passed on by: in a mere moment, she was in free fall. This all, of course, before the depths came rushing towards her. Suddenly, the glow was too bright for her light-sensitive gaze to take - and as her eyes closed, she let out a fearful cry.

Something soft and plush caught her in it's warm embrace, as the woman shuddered briefly; her body still tense with the feeling of the phantom rush it had experienced during her tumble. However, as she slowly peeled open her eyes - her body immediately relaxed at the sight at which she soon beheld.

"Welcome home, faithful one."

> Crumbs did not know where Crumbs was.

Yes, gutter-crawling, yes, gibberish-screeching. It had been a long night. There was no small shred of doubt, however, that such howling at the moon had been so worth the trouble she felt for it now. With dark, clawing fingers, she raked at her dry scalp and felt nothing but raw waves of nausea wash over her as a flake or two decided to descend from her skull and flutter down to the hard ground below.

It truly made for an uncomfortable bed to lie on, and though she'd had worse, Crumbs felt as if she could feel the outline of every cobble. Every rock, grain underfoot, or shard of gravel jutting into her skin, digging. And..
cold. Crumbs was cold; infused with a terrible, bone-biting chill. There was that gut-feeling: wishy-washy, wrenching. Her stomach continued to undergo it's practiced performance of twists, turns, leaps, and bounds - but Crumbs dared to defy! Mind over matter, she took to stumbling up onto her feet. A gamble of high stakes: whatever was for dinner last night, all or nothing.

Reminded of elegant performers upon their nimble tight-rope walks, she struck out her arms to balance herself. A pantomime of an audience's roar escapes her lips as she finally rights herself after a well-fought, long, and hard battle of wobbling. In spite of all this, though, there was an unfortunate lack of applause from passerby as Crumbs went to take her bow. Whether or not that was because it proved to be the hill her roiling gut chose to die on, though, was truly anybody's best guess.

After giving her face a dainty smear of the hand, she decided it best to depart from her homely ditch on the side of the busy roadway. Crumbs let herself melt into the crowd. Swept away, she began to feel enveloped; consumed by the mass, in a strangely comforting way. People could give Crumbs the Clanless a dirty look or scramble out of her way in fear of becoming upwind of her: and they would be right to do so, but here, she was right at the center of it all.

The thrumming heartbeat of civilized society was music to her ears, full of purpose and pride. Though Crumbs herself had never been beholden to one, the faces she picked out among the crowd with blurry eyes truly fascinated her. It was rare to find anyone without their chins high, lost or searching. It looked tiring.

When it rained, most began to trickle away; diverging out like the dirty streams that began to form underfoot. Unlike most people, she relished in taking the time to jump into large puddles. However, this also happened to splash several clean-looking fellows, so she also had to take to running through the rain once or twice in exchange during her passage. At inevitable shivers that creeped up her spine, though, she began to turn her eyes away from the muddy ground and her sludge-caked, bare feet

Eventually, she found herself cozying up within a damp nook in some nameless back alley. It was there, that she began to scheme on her plans for the young night ahead. Grand, ingenious.. yes, positively flawless, bound to succeed. Done with using her brain to it's full capacity, she confidently wrung herself back up onto her feet. It was time for a repeat of last night's endeavors, or better yet. After a little stretch out of her quivering, chilled limbs, she strutted back out into the rain in rags - feeling up at the tip-top of her game.

Tonight was going to be another good, too far-gone, grimy flight of fun.
