(Optional) Picture of the Skin: Attach on the thread
Written Test (Min: 400 words): It was a beautiful morning when she creeped out the doorway, gently pressing it closed so the sound of the lock’s mechanism couldn’t be heard. Her belongings packed away in a small leather bag bound by green thick dread, and by which- It was truly small, as per halfling blood, she didn’t truly ever own much to begin with,- she was ready to leave the nest. Her mother and father had pleaded and begged her for days to stay, for just a little longer, in the safe haven of their little town, where she may feast without worry for tomorrow’s meal, and where warmth and comfort would always welcome her in the evenings. Yet as the morning light dawned over her face and the gentle morning breeze carried flyaway hairs off of her eyes, she knew it had to be done. The early birds and farmers had already begun out into the small town of Crownsberry when she began through it, veiled in a cloak of deep emerald green for her travel with buttons of oak carved into leaves, to whom she waved and smiled, not wishing to raise alarm. She knew all of them by name, the farmer with the golden smile and the baker with a burnt hand- yet in that moment she wished she didn’t, for she knew oh how dearly she would miss them when she was gone. But in the end, for her to achieve her greatest dream- Her most greedy and sinful desire, she had to leave and venture into the world. For who would gain anything if standing still? Yet with each step further out on the road that lead away into the deep dark forest, an uncertainty grew stronger and stronger. One which devoured her over and over again each morning for the past week when she tried to leave, time and time again, yet failed, always trailing her steps back into her mother’s arms. But as this uncertainty and fear of the unknown grew, so did a morbid curiosity for it. An overpowering feeling of greed, of desire- The creeping feeling across her back that called her further and further, dragging each of her steps like gravity. And as she stopped at the end of the last house, where she could no longer see her family’s cottage, or the farmer tending to his cows, or the baker with his burnt hand- When she stood there, face to face with the forest, side to side by the fence of which she had seen each morning but had been unable to cross, she finally did it. She stepped past it. The furthest she had ever gone. |
