We have been informed of the Addendum Primus to the Corpse Law pushed forward by the Imperatrix Vibiana Cor Votum. While some may be quick to be content with these compromises, we see them for the pittances that they are. We are sure that the Imperatrix has a firmer moral compass than her husband- and perhaps all of us- and does not wish to see more blood spilt over the issues. Her desire for slow, reformist action is noble, but it is ultimately the normalization of a grievous and monstrous law and an even more grievous and monstrous state that was foisted upon many sovereign nations. How many more will be wronged in the time that the Imperatrix’s Plan finally sees fruition?
Consider the thistle, that hardy plant which sows its seeds across all manner of soils. It can be found growing even betwixt roadstones where it is trodden upon and its roots find little nourishment. There, armed with its thorns and a hardy constitution, it may find itself upturning the cobbles and producing a cluster of brilliant flowers, standing tall.
Would you then say that growing in cobbles and walls of brick is the thistle’s natural state? Would you say that because has triumphantly thwarted the ever-turning wheel of the ox-cart and the heel of beast and man alike that it no longer needs its thorns?
I think not.
It is by the Thistle's Determination and Refusal to be TRODDEN upon that it thrives in wicked conditions, and it is by its stinging thorns that prevent the gardener from plucking it out of the way.
So it is with our Cause. We began this Crusade to abolish the Corpse Law and this primus movens has not changed. If we or any citizen of the Empire were- for a moment- to accept this Addendum Primus and lay down our arms, we would leave our future generations open to the possibility of the eventual removal of these privileges. If it was not for the sting of our thorns & the clamor of terrible war, the Empire would not have made these compromises.
Do not forget for a MOMENT that the Corpse Law still stands. Where before for thousands of years mortals were free to bury their parents, their comrades, their siblings, and their lovers, the Empire has made it acceptable by way of their permission for soldiers to bury their families, and for their own bodies to be spared from defilement if they survive in the Imperator’s wretched wars for five years. They have claimed that their mercy now even extends to Grey Lady Worshippers, forgetting the exorbitant taxation placed upon them and their parishes makes it difficult for them to make ends meet.
Do not forget how changeable the hearts of wicked men are. These laws could easily be twisted throughout future generations to complicate the right of undisturbed burial when it becomes convenient for the Imperator or necessary to appease his God.
It has come to our understanding, therefore, that our cause can no longer be content with the abolition of laws, but the abolition of the Empire as we understand it.
Here are thusly the official goals of the Bloodied Knot:
- To Dismantle the Empire of Cor Votum and All its Apparatuses, Military, Religious, and Governmental Alike in all Territories that Seek Freedom from the Empire.
- Those cities, towns, villages, and hamlets that wholeheartedly desire continued communion with the Imperator will be considered enemies, but their demented attachment left unsevered if they survive.
- Those cities, towns, villages, hamlets, and all peoples settled or unsettled that desire Freedom from the Empire will be given the required assistance for their liberation. The armies oppressing this goal will be destroyed, and all leading collaborators- including pro-Imperator Skraagite priests and Imperial Officials- in the area will be brought to trial, their crimes revealed, and their bodies burned after execution.
- To Dismantle the Corpse Law in All Aforementioned Areas Seeking Liberation
- The Bloodied Knot aims to provide everyone the ability to care for their dead in the way they see fit without harassment.
- All Imperial Corpse-Takers and their Affiliates will be hanged.
- All Stolen Bodies Enroute to the Sorrows will be reappropriated- to the best of our abilities- to their respective caretakers.
- To Construct a Provisional Government for These Territories until they have been rebuilt.
- We aim to ensure that these new governments will be able to defend themselves and rule themselves justly.
- To Put to Trial & Punish Any Imperial Officials Found Guilty of:
- Willful, Active, Military Collaboration
- Anyone Who Continues to Enforce the Corpse Law
- Extortion of Grey Lady Followers, Ignites, and Theodrans
- Resurrecting the Deceased into Undead
- Promoting the Imperial Religion of the Reaching Hand
- All Non-Empire Aligned Skraagites will be left alone.
- If Necessary, the Utter Desolation and Destruction of the Empire.
We call on all Nobles & Commoners of the Empire & Abroad who seek to Right the Wrongs of this Wretched State to rise up with us. We seek honest, firm hearted, and chivalrous people to help lead our Crusade to victory.
