Each individual member of Candlewood is organized into a Circle(1). Each Circle has a Director(2), and the Director is responsible for the actions of everyone in their group. They are also tasked with divvying out resources and rewards to their members, ensuring they are all satisfied, and that they are adequately housed and trained.

The Directors are voted for among each Circle, and elections are held by the Sages fiat(3). Only the members of a given Circle are able to vote for their Director. Votes may be submitted by personal declaration in front of witnesses, submitted in writing, or delivered by magical means to the Sage(4). Only the Sage may call a vote for a new Director. Existing independently of the Circles is the Board of Ethics, lead by the Auditor(5). The Auditor is appointed by the Sage, but may only be removed by a two-thirds vote of all Directors.(6)

The Sage may strip a Director of their place, disband a Circle entirely, may make decisions representing the entirety of Candlewood at their discretion, dictates its foreign and domestic policies, and may accept or strip a person of their membership at their discretion.(7) The exception is the Auditor, who may with cause temporarily suspend the powers of the Sage and assume his responsibilities if they believe the Sage has been compromised and is unable to fulfill their required duties. If the Sage is indisposed, the Auditor assumes all responsibilities of their position. If the Sage is unable to ever return to their position, the Directors vote on a new Sage.

The responsibility of Candlewood is the advancement of all knowledge, regardless of the methods, origins, means, or dangers inherent in its advancement or the knowing of it. By doing so, each Director is expected to engage their Circle in pursuit of a Project(8). Projects must first be written or approved by the Director, where it is given to the Auditor, who decides whether or not the means and intended outcome of research are acceptable. It is the duty of the Auditor to also ensure that what knowledge is gained is dispersed responsibility within and beyond Candlewood.

1. Circles are expected to go under practical delineations. Like, a Circle for eviscists, a Circle for people who want to specialize in divine research, a Circle for alchemists, stuff like that.
2. That each Circle is represented by one person is for organizational convenience. It’s easier to tell one person who represents five to make sure all five are doing something, than it is to get six people online and organized when whoever leads the faction is going to be in charge of like thirty people or something.
3. If a director goes extremely inactive or something but they’re in an active Circle, or if someone really wants to take over directorship, this is the mechanism by which it changes.
4. Just run the elections over discord, it’s easier and faster.
5. This is Nwalme.
6. Ditto for everything else, if ever I stop playing Nwalme for an extended length of time, this is the mechanism by which he’s removed.
7. The Sage is broadly in charge of everything, and acts with absolute authority.
8. This is the meat of things. Projects are going to be how we justify our faction research, and what our events will consist of. “Research into figments” can be a few events and a lot of RP over the course of the month, and the final result will be getting some weird faction lore approved relating to figments. The way we decide what faction technology to have be our thing at the end of the month is by holding an OOC vote in the discord which as to which project we submit as the faction lore for that month.
