BACKSTORY:

Coralin was born in a land called Eastmere. When she was born her family noticed something odd about her. Unlike the rest of her family. Coralin had brown eyes instead of the silver and blue eyes of the rest of her family. Her father knew something was wrong and immediately confronted Coralin’s mother. She was honest and told him that she had had an affair and that Coralin was not his daughter. Her father immediately forgave her mother but banished Coralin from the family. Her mother sent her to her close relatives the Senatoors. They graciously took her in. Her new family was loving and caring and she even had an older brother, Dominik, to look over and protect her.

As Coralin grew older she loved to learn. Constantly inside reading books and learning mnay things. She learned a good quite a bit about herbology from her mother. And her father taught her how to read, write in both common and Elven. Unlike her brother she hated to fight. Her brother was a great swordsman and loved to learn all he could about combat. But even though they differed so much in what they enjoyed they still became very close. Dominik would protect Coralin with his life if he ever needed to, and Coralin often helped Dominik learn the many things that he was not good at.

At around the age of 13 Coralin was curious as to why she looked so different from all the others in her family. One day she asked her mother and she was honest with her. She told her the story of her old family and how she was actually adopted. Coralin was furious at the Caedit’s. “How could they abandon me like a piece of trash!” she thought. At that moment she decided to abandon her old name and make a new one. She looked through many and many books trying to find a new name. Suddenly she ran across a book plainly called “Sallana.” She read through everything in the book. Learning of the goddess Sallana and immediately fell in love with her and has ever since worshiped her. So she continued to think, think of a name that fit her best. “Sallana.. Allana.. Aellana!” She smiled as the name came to her and has ever since called herself Aellana Senatoor.

When Aellana was about 21 Eastmere went to war with another country. She hated war and knew it was time for her to make her leave before things got too bad. So she left with all the Senatoors and headed for the land called the Northern Kingdoms. She loved it there at first but soon found out how violent and.. stupid the residence in the kingdom were. She soon grew to hate the place and asked her family if they could go someplace else. Unlike her the other Senatoors loved their new home. So instead of just leaving they gave Aellana a small fortune and told her she could travel the world and when she had seen all she had wanted to see she could return home. Aellana spent a good part of 50 years traveling the world. She absolutely loved it. But after such a long time, she began to miss staying in one place and her family.

So Aellana finally returned home. When she got their she learned that the Senatoor had created their own town. A place called Aellyrdale. Aellana loved it there for it reminded her so much of Eastmere. But her happiness was short lived. She heard of an attack that was soon to be held against Aellyr by the Order and the Engem. She fled, she ran from the place to wait for the fighting to be over. After all had been done she returned to the mansion to grab what she had left behind. Soon she heard voices, she tried to sneak out but was soon found and captured by two men by the name of Lucius and Brogan.

For the next three weeks, Aellana lived in a cell with her brother. Only surviving on the one piece of bread per day they were given. They tried to break them, to get them to renounce their name. One day they pulled Aellana from the cell. Brogan took her up to a small black, glowing portal. (Planar Infinity) He told her to find out where her family was hiding or he would throw her brother into the portal. She feared what would be on the other side and agreed to sell out her family to keep Dominik safe.

Aellana ran from the place and went to the only place she knew they could be. Golden Bay. It was the first time she entered the city and quickly found them. But they were leaving. Someone from the Order had found them already by the name of Duncan. He said he was there to help them but they did not believe him. Aellana immediately left and went to return Lucius and Brogan with what informationn she had. She told them everything, she told them that the Senatoors were hiding in Golden Bay but were leaving. She was afraid it was not enough but Lucius released her brother as he had promised. After this Aellana never returned to that god awful place. She went looking for her family, staying in Golden Bay while she looked. One day she returned home after a day of looking to hear that her brother had been killed. “After all this work to get us safe you run off and get yourself killed!” Aellana was so angry. But with this news her family finally arrived and took Aellana north to their new home.

Soon after Aellana had heard that Robert was constructing a new town called Queen’s Port. He told her that it was her that was going to lead it. She was so excited, she had never lead anything and this would be a new experience for her. Her excitement was short lived. Soon Sarus got himself into trouble, capturing a Engem and the town was raided. She was furious at Sarus for ruining this for her. She spoke to many trying to come to an agreement so that she could keep the town. Finally she signed vassalage of Queen’s Port over to the Lavoyard because she knew that if she did she could keep it. Soon Robert too joined her and signed vassalage of house Senatoor over to her. It was in Queen’s Port that she fell in love with a man named Gavin. He was in charge over in Golden Bay and they quickly became quite close.

A few months later Aellana heard there was an arranged marriage in the works for her. She was unsure as to how to feel. But she agreed to it, knowing that it would bring many great things for the house. her heart was torn though, she loved Gavin and when she gave him the news, she could tell he was broken and ever since he never seemed the same. She was arranged to be married to John de Beaumont. She quite quickly fell in love with him, even though he lacked all emotions. And after only a few short months she became pregnant with his child. Aellana grew worried and tried to rush him to marry her, knowing the child had to be born while they were married or else it would be a bastard. No matter how hard Aellana poked and prodded John to prepare the wedding it almost seemed as if he didn’t want to be wed to her. Serella was born, a bastard. Aellana then knew it was too late.

One day Aellana was coming home from trade papers with Golden Bay when there was a basket on the doorstep to the inn. She picked it up to find a small baby boy. With it was a note that said. “This is Loup Caedit, he is your nephew. Your sister Anatilla died giving birth to him and you are the only member of the Caedit family still alive. So it is onto you that this child has been given. I am sorry for your loss and I hope that you grow to love your new child - CV” Aellana was confused, she didn’t even know she had a sister. Even through this she accepted the child but knew John would not be happy. She and he had been growing apart since Serella’s birth and decided it was best to take the children away to the fort to the north.

She spent 3 years alone up there with only the children. Focusing completely on them. One day the front gate opened, someone had came to the long abandon fort. And up the stairs walked none other than her lost love Gavin. He was holding a small girl in his hands. Gavin told her everything, that the child was Princess Anastasia and that he had taken her from her home in hopes to accomplish something. Aellana agreed to hold the child in the fort but for a reason other than to help Gavin. She knew that if she denied the request that Gavin would just take her somewhere else. If she accepted then she knew exactly where the child was and could take her home.

One day Gavin left the fort, leaving the child alone with Aellana. Aellana immediately took the child plus her own down to Queen’s Port. There she told Robert what had happened and instead of being happy to hear she was returning the child he called her a kidnapper. Aellana in fury ran away from him, vowing to never return to Queen’s Port or Senatoor again. From there she took Anastasia to Le Havre. She smiled as the king held his lost child in his arms. After words she was sent to speak with her still fiancee, John. He told her that the Serella was no longer a part of the Beaumont family and told Aellana to leave Le Harve. As she was leaving she knew she had lost everything, she had no idea where she could go. This was when she met a knight by the name of William. He was kind and helped her set up in Golden bay with her two children. This is where she met Azoth, she spoke to him about possibly recreating her old family the Caedit’s and setting it up in Golden Bay. After a bit of disscussion he agreed. It was at this moment that Aellana gave up her name and took back her birth name, Coralin Caedit.​

Serella - Loves - Her child, she is very needy and she loves to explore. She is quite the opposite of Coralin at that age.
Loup - Loves - She loves him as her own. He and Serella are quite close and that makes Coralin happy.

The Death of Coralin Caedit


​

The Caedit family walks down a lone stone path, Coralin holding onto the reins of their lone horse, as her darling daughter Serella rides on top. Loup walks close to her side, staring out to the horizon. A bone chilling wind blows across their face as they continue down the path towards Azerport.

“Moooooooom, how much longer till Azurpor?” Serella whines as they continue, shivering slightly as the freezing wind cut through to the bone..

“Just awhile longer, we are about half way there.” Coralin replies in a calm, happy tone as she smiles up at her.

Loup at first looked worried before he smiles once more to his mother and says, “Do you think we can find someone to make me a bow there?”

Coralin smiles back at him, oblivious to the ominous wind and nods, “If anywhere I bet we can find someone there.”

As they continue they see a small group of about three, armed and rough appearance men on the side of the road. Coralin slowly tries to move around them, trying to keep their distance, having a slight uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. As they get closer, the one man ran in front of them and the other two flank their sides and smile at them. Coralin smiles back, rather wary of their appearance. All of them wearing tight leather clothing slightly ripped in places.

“Where are you lot headed?” Says one men as he cocks his head to the side, sickly grinning wide at the group before him.

Coralin tightens her grip around the reins, her unease settling in as she says to them, “We are just making a trip to Azerport.”

One of them having brown hair and dark green eyes walks up to her, speaking to her with a calm, but intimidating tone. “What’s a pretty woman like you got to do in Azerport?” He goes out of his way to look her up and down. His eyes linger at her chest much longer than was needed.

Coralin shutters slightly at his words and she notices Loup tense up at her side. “Just making a little trip..”

Serella was quietly sitting upon the horse, smiling cluelessly at the armed men in front of her.

“You look pretty wealthy, am I right?” He grins as he grabs her wrist, holding it tight within his iron grip.

Coralin instantly tries to pull her hand away with force starting to get frightened by the man. “L-let me go this instant-”

As she says this Loup darts forward, using his tiny stature to slip past the man’s guard and grab his dagger. Slipping the blade out of it’s sheath and into the Bandit’s arm, growling at the man. “Hands off my mother!”. The Bandit would yell and curse but quickly grabs the struggling Loup and throws him to the ground. Serella lets out an ear piercing scream as her brother is thrown to the ground, terrified by what is happening.

Coralin would shout out in horror “Loup, no!” before hitting the side of the horse that Serella rides on and knowing things would only get worse, yells “Go! Run! Don’t turn back!” Serella had no choice in the matter, panicked and scared, as she is carried deep into the woods by the horse.

Loup is then grabbed by the man and forced to stand, holding his hands behind his back. One man, who was obviously the leader then barks and orders for one of the others to shoot down the fleeing girl, his rage blinding his judgement at that moment. Loup called out then as one of the men raised his crossbow, aiming at Serella’s back. “Run mom! Save sister, I'll be right behind you I promise!”.

Coralin quickly runs at the man holding the crossbow in his hand and grabs his arms. the element of surprise on her side as she began forcibly pulling the crossbow down, forcing it to aim directly at her chest instead. The sudden action was the downfall of both her and the bandit holding the weapon aimed at her chest. He fired as his arm was jolted, the heavy and barbed bolt going straight through her heart in an instant.

She falls to the ground, the bolt sticking out of her chest,looking up to her shocked and crying son being held by the brown haired bandit as he drives his fist into Loup's head in anger, knocking him out quickly. She then watches as the leader dropped Loup in a rage, leaving him to begin falling next to his mother before moving over to dispose of the bandit that had shot her. “You killed our ransom money and ticket to riches you MORON!”.

Coralin’s vision begins to fade as she watches her son fall to the floor, his eyes drifting closed along with her own, suddenly feeling a red hot pain in her cheek as she is branded on the cheek with a symbol. The thought of her children being killed shattering her will to continue on as she breathes her very last breath.

The scene looks grim, the two remaining bandits look over the body of the woman and the child, stripping them off all belongings and valuables and leaving them on the side of the road.

The one bandit looks to the other then looks over the edge of the forest. “Should we look for the girl? She saw your face. She might identify you before it is time.”

The leader laughs at him before muttering. “She is just a child, she will probably get lost in those woods and never be seen again. Now lets get back to Azerport before somebody sees us here with these bodies. I need to speak with my dear friend the king anyways.” He says before he mounts his horse, leaving the scene with his remaining men.

“What ever you say, Roran.”

I cried when I heard of this. I planned it, but I cried. I thought it all happened too soon. I wasn't ready.
But... No one's ever ready to say goodbye to a loved one.
If anything, making this happen too soon prepared me to play the aftermath as best I can. Art imitates life. Now... I think I can play Serella properly.
