I've not had much experience of roleplaying but anything that can add to the atmosphere of a minecraft community seems like a good idea to me.

Hello. My name's Kevin (Kev's fine). I'm a web developer at a further education college. I'm married with no kids. My hobbies include watching my local football team (the team can be inferred from my username), cycling and all the usual stuff like Music (at the moment I'm listening to Johnny Foreigner and Los Campesinos! a lot), and Films (saw The Artist last week - which was awesome - and Chronicle yesterday - which was pretty good). I also do a fair amount of programming, mostly in Ruby these days. I'm a linux geek. I like ale. Um. I'm sure there's more but my mind's going blank.
I'm here because I'm looking for a minecraft server with a decent friendly community. I've tried with a few but, apart from one exception, I never felt "at home." I'm hoping this server could be for me. The one exception was the minecraft server on canv.as which was a great place to be until trolls took over, got op privileges, and destroyed everything.
I generally don't have much ambition in minecraft. I like to build a house, do some mining and explore other people's stuff. One of the things I liked about the canv.as server was that there was so much old stuff in it, like old abandoned buildings and monuments. Even when mining you'd often break out into stuff people had built underground. Because of that the server felt like it had a history. That's the sort of atmosphere I'm hoping to find here.

I'm not overly ambitious with what I build, but, for what it's worth, here's some pics of my main house in a private server I share with a friend. It's a pure vanilla survival server and neither of us have ever used creative mode in it.

10. Are you aware that the use of black magic (xray,xray texture packs and ore locator mods) is not allowed on our server, and a banishable offense?
Yes.
