If one wishes to do well in Path of Exile, one must remember two things:

Have an idea of where you want to go with your character from the very beginning. This kind of means your first 1-X characters might be a wash, depending on how much Wiki/Forum reading and Video watching you'd like to do.

For the love of the sun, don't play hardcore mode or Nemesis until you really know what you are doing, and if you do, every passive that is not defensive is one step closer to dieing miserably.



Also, Bonus Tip: Bleed damage quadruples if you move during it.

I've looked at enough guides and such to have a decent idea of what I'm doing, and can generally give useful advice on everything except the economics/trading, which I haven't gotten into yet.

I always go for a full blown melee powerchar in games like this. My passive tree and equipment setup is not that complicated. Armor, shield, life and two-handed damage!

Also, I found my first unique item yesterday.
