Lucan: Introduction

Lucan (Loo Can) are a culture derived from the IRL Irish and Pegan cultures with some key differences that make them all alteran. The culture is in the far west and lives in the warm sunny hurricane prone areas and seldom goes to "the main land"
People:
The Lucan are a Human Dwarf culture made up of three Clans. No lucan uses a tridtional last name or "Family name" Instead using a Clan name. Each clan considers the others Rivals, but more in the sense of family rivalry, often disputes between clans are settled with yearly contests or sparrs between champions. War is saved for outsiders and "Main Landers".
Following are the three clans and some info about each.
O'Bryan
O'bryan are a mostly human clan, Proficient in boat building and Lumber. They rule over the "Blackmist Forest"
(Located here) The O'Bryan's boast a connection to the spirit's and ancestors. Often spending life times perfecting rituals and praising at altars. This tribe holds Fea in high regard.
Brawnwall
Brawnwall are the largely Dwarven clan. They once lived in Takhul rimtar in the north after it fell to ruin they refused to leave staying there for may years. Only recently in the last few years moving to Scourge. They are shunned by many of there kin for interbreeding with humans and have such decided the Lucan are there true family. They Boast the strongest warriors and finest Iron smiths and rule over the Wastelands to the west.

Mc'Bryde
The Mc'Bryde are Unique among st them a large number of family have both dwarf and human children. Wail the two can't conceive its not uncommon to see them adopt. The clan Mc'Bryde boasts having the finest archers and bow and crossbow makers. Legends say the champion Mc'Bryde archer can fire a bow so far he aims with a map.
Groups:
All Lucan's pledge there life to one of the three clans. It is /very/ Uncommon to see a Lucan who would allian with a main lander king or house. This is beacuse from birth they are taught that the only way the gods and ansestors will welcome them home is through the strength of the Lucan.
Family (the man-woman kind)
Family and blood is very unimportant to a Lucan. The Clan is considered a large family. Beyond preventing interbreeding they treat a child as being the son of the Patriarch of the Clan. All clan born sons are broght to the Patriarch of there clan and given a blessing of strength.
The mother of a child will raise them to young adulthood than the Clan raises them as a whole.
Diet
Lucans have fast metabolisms and tend to eat very poorly. They enjoy Holo meat, Steak, grog, mead, and Similar Dwarf like Foods/drink
Religion
The religious practices of the Lucan is very difficult to understand for outsiders. A mix of pegan like mysticism, Rituals, Solstos celebrations, high regard of Fea, and praise for the spirits and ancestors. Close minded main landers may consider there worship heretical but in reality they just praise there gods in foren style.
The Lucan most often worship one of three gods for
Rahas - Some changes in there culture lead them to discover and begin to worship Rahas for his ideals of Justice and freedom. (Ironic some may say in a society without law)
Vermella - Believing it is she who bind the three clans in brotherhood and she who allows the ancestor to watch over the Lucan
Visage - Warping Visage's Teaching into an idea of freedom, some believe the Lucan's Worship of Visage is misguided but the would find them selves in a fight if they spoke those words in Scourge
Physical Appearance
The Lucan are huge men averaging around 6ft tall and some as tall 7ft! All have broad shoulders and barrel chests. There hair is flaming red, skin pale with freckles. They are born warriors.
Lucans also have an affinity for body art, Tattoos are very common and a young man earns the right to wear a Clan Sigil after his first victory in Contest or combat.

Attitudes Towards Violence and Weapons
Loved, bordering on obsession. The Lucan see combat as a battle of wills. They don't often feel hatred and look at there adversaries as equals. They are taught not to underestimate opponents, even the weakest body can be strong of mind the elders would teach.
Death in battle Is seen as an honorable way to die, Cleansing your clan of any shame it held.
The Lucan primary fight unarmed, They are naturally good with grapples and there large hands make escape difficult and sometimes impossible. However if they are facing an enemy with significant weaponry they prefer two handed weapons like Claymores and Dwarven warhammers, Using there size as a shield.
There combat can be described as barbaric, often choosing to stay and fight when mortally wounded. even Dwarves of the main land tribes would describe them as tough.
Lifespan
Lucan don't often live long, many don't make it past 30 due to a combination of poor eating habits, Fighting, and Over working themselves Because of this any Lucan past the age of 45 becomes an Elder.
Elders
Elders are the parents of the clans, Focusing on guidance, Spiritualism, and Teaching. They are held in the highest regard. But are forbidden from competing in War or Contest. Very few Lucan ever live to become elders.
The patriarchs of each clan must be elders of atleast 5 years.
Language, Naming Schema, and Common Phrases
Lucans Have there own language called "Lucanford" Many also speak Dwarven and Common.
Common phrases
Main Lander: Insult, Meaning without faith or outsider. All those who live on the central land are called this.
Spirit bless: Greeting, meaning Spirit watches over you, or you are Family,
Also a common term of Apology
Demographics, Racial Views, Magic
In terms of their view on each race:
Human: Looked upon as kind, neutral, and understanding. Many humans are welcome among the Lucan. Even Main Landers.
Elf: Considered petty, arrogant, and weak. Most Lucans will not trust elves. This is largely however due to there dwarven roots of the culture.
Dwarf: Favored, Seen as strong and wise. Lucans welcome them as kin regardless of where they are from.
Earthspawn: Consider them ally, and will fight along side them in battle. All earth spawn are welcomed as guests but never adopted into the culture.
Nakam: Nakam are rare in the west, few Lucan's have had an encounter with them and because of this they have little to no opinion of them.
The Lucanford word for Nakam is Catfoot. Which some Mainlanders find offensive.
Caprii: Held in high esteem. The Lucan's welcome them into the clans. They are however very rare in the west. Many Lucan's believe that the Caprii hold secrets like fairy and whips, some legends even say that Caprii are the ones who guide Lucan souls to there ancestors.
Lucanford word for Caprii Translates to Watchers in the Woods, Spirit Shepard, or more literally Fea
Halfling: Considered to be weak, but friendly. The Lucan tend to speak to and treat Halflings like children.
Agriculture
Lucan's are proficient at growing and harvesting underground crops like giant mushrooms, and cave wheat. They also get most of there protein from off shore fishing. Shark is a Lucan delicacy. Gardening is actually a common thing to see among women and elders around Scourge. Many choose to take it up as a way to praise the spirits.
