- THE -
-= FIENDISH =-

Corruption crept into the hearts of mortals.
Greed, Envy, Hatred and Anguish slowly consumed them one-by-one. Upon the fall of Grief, there remained Corruption, taking over those that sought enlightenment from the constant war of men, gods and beings. The Fiends rose and shifted through the cracks of the Realm’s rifts, bringing Corruption with them. They possessed and offered the mortals their desires..
Desires beyond their trifle lives. ..But it came with a cost.

Becoming Corrupted
—-
INFERNAL | Lesser Fiends can bind a part of their power into objects of any kind. These objects carry a dark aura around them that holds a feeling of despair, anguish and something defiling. To those familiar enough of what they are, they begin to feel uncomfortable in its presence - knowing something dark is close and unnatural. To those unaware- the object may look appealing enough to touch. When they’re grabbed, characters must resist the effect of suppression: /statroll Soul Resilience + Malaise - and get a success over DC 13 to resist its influence. If they succeed, the lesser Fiend vanishes and the object disperses in a puff of dark smoke.
If the character fails: In a flash of dark light, the lesser Fiend is able to move from the object, force a possession and wrap their foreign soul around the mortal’s. It inhabits the body of the character, and can be identified as a second presence within by animancers, cogimencers, or Divine probing. The character retains their awareness of who they are, but slowly begins to alter and become possessed. The object they touched will disperse into a puff of dark smoke.
-Most beings, except Constructs, can become Infernal. The character must be over 16+. Younger vessels seem too weak as hosts.
-Vyres cannot be Infernal as their fate is sealed to Skraag, a higher power.
-Spirited Blessed and Infernal cannot co-exist together as both are anima based. One will try to push the other out.
-All Blessed have an extra buff against being possessed through [Providence] with an additional 1d4 roll. If unsuccessful, they will begin to lose their favors the longer the lesser Fiend possesses them. All blessed will have an internal conflict over their possession, and struggle to gain rank. T3+ Cannot be Infernal.
Exorcisms
—--

INFERNAL | A ritual must be enacted in order to safely expel the lesser Fiend from the possessed person. It will leave emotional scars that will heal over time and the process is arduous.

Ritual: The Ritual must be led by a Blessed of the Pantheon of Rank 1 or above. A solid circle, or shape, made of contents thematic to the Divine must be made on the ground (blood, chalk, ashes, wood, metals). A known Holy Symbol and design of one of the Divines must be etched within. The possessed must be bound or lay within the circle, extending their arms. Within the circle, two offerings must be placed. One: An object personal to the possessed one. Two: A valuable object- either made of gold, decorated with jewels, or something ancient and beautiful. The head of the ritual must begin chanting a repeated mantra of protection- it could be of divine inclination, or full of a desire to be protected from Corruption. This must be repeated as long as the Lesser Fiend is inside.
A dark power will begin to gather around the bound possessed. They’ll begin to feel the fires of the Hellscape brew and purge from within them. A feeling of abandonment and persecution will seize them and once the tip of their torture grants them enough suffering close to death, the lesser Fiend inside them will be weak enough to jump within the valuable offered object. If any other touch the new possessed object, the cycle continues. The personal object of the possessed one will disperse in a burst of black smoke (You can send it to the current Event Coordinator- /mailbox solusrequiem PossessionIGN). Dousing the Fiend object in a bucket of holy water, spilling it in Alchemical Fire or within a lava pool will destroy it completely in a puff of black smoke, which may explode in a small spark of heat to those near.
Death does force the Fiend out and leaves the body of the possessed drained. If the player chooses to revive, a hollow feeling will be impressed within their soul, as if a part of it went through something arduous. However- this feeling will heal over time for the once-Infernal.
Once excorsized, the individual may not become possessed again as easily as the first time.
