The Second Mage Law replaces the first, now obsolete.

ON ARCANE MAGIC
Arcane magic damages reality itself. Arcane magic grants mortals powers normally reserved for deities and other naturally supernatural beings, and instills it within man. Weaving the impossible in a fashion that should be impossible on the material plane weakens it. It is lighting a fire within a straw house. By contrast, those blessed by the gods or who otherwise are granted their power by higher beings are alike windows, focusing the power of distant celestial beings without weakening the veil between realities.

THE FIRST LAW
All mages at all times are to have the colloquial "reality anchors" on their person. No arcane magic may be cast without one, except in times of dire emergency.

THE SECOND LAW
Arcane magic for the purposes of healing or restoring crippled persons is acceptable.

THE THIRD LAW
In the event of the veil being especially weak in area for reasons of overuse of magic, mages in the area shall agree to cease their casting altogether until such a time as normality is restored.

THE FOURTH LAW
The use of arcane magic in the furtherance of heresy, illegal warfare, or otherwise to the aid of those whose actions destabilize the realm, warrants harsher punishment than if only mundane methods were employed.

THE FIFTH LAW
Mages shall not be sparked by demons or other naturally malevolent entities. Mages who have been sparked by demons following this proclamation shall be forced to give up their spark, on threat of charges of heresy.

THE SIXTH LAW
Those who praise, honor, worship, sacrifice to, endorse, aid, further the agenda of, support, lend succor to, help, abet, avail, sustain, or otherwise promote in any way the rogue deity Magic who has made necessary this mage law shall be charged as heretics. Those who have done so in the past, but who following this proclamation cease to do so, are granted amnesty for their past crimes.

THE SEVENTH LAW
Mages who spark others are responsible for keeping track of them, and ensuring their observance of the law. If a mage has sparked someone who goes on to disobey them and break the law, the mage is obligated to alert the powers that be so that the wayward apprentice may be brought back in line.
