{!} Across kingdoms a new poster is put up {!}
Since the beginning of time, people have wanted peace, there are those who sit by and silently watch,
and there are those who actually do.
——<The Vanguard>——
The Vanguard are a simple group, with no biases or alliances, they only help for the greater good.
From a task as mundane as helping someone in a farm, to entering the hellscape alongside armies as aid,
these people help others. They could be lords of men, kings of elves, or they could be peasants
and commoners, the only thing that binds them is the wish for peace,
courage, bravery, and strength is all it takes to become one in the brotherhood.
——<Background>——
While there is no specific moment in history when The Vanguard started, it can be agreed
that the group is new, some say it’s as old as the eldest member, or it’s only a few months.
But one thing is clear, it’s a group with no set rules, but it doesn’t cause
chaos, the brothers and sisters rely on each other to keep each other in check.
The group was founded on the belief that all people deserve help, and as such,
none ask for money for their deeds, but some do appreciate tips.
——<Beliefs>——
The only thing that holds the group together, besides holding each other in check, is
their beliefs. At it’s core, The Vanguard is about help and service without strings attached.
It spreads into six branches from that:
Compassion: Noticing others suffering and wishing to help
Empathy: Being there for all who need help
Bravery: Standing for what’s right no matter what
Intelligence: Being able to think and use logic well
Strength: Not necessarily physically, it can apply to will as well
Hard Work: Working no matter the hardship
These are the six agreed upon, though it does vary on who you ask,
not all are required, but you need to at least respect them.
——<Joining>——
Joining is a simple task, while one could say they are part of The Vanguard, it simply
takes asking to see their proof, which is a three leaf clover pin.
To join all one needs to do is find a member and ask to join, the person will be tested,
the test isn’t consistent, it’s based off the testers wish, for instance,
a member who values strength more might want you to try and best them in a
race over buildings. A member who values intelligence might quiz
them on understanding.
Upon succeeding the test, the applicant will receive a three leaf clover pin, symbolizing
they have successfully joined.
—<The Pin>—
The three leaves on the clover represent the three parts of a truly balanced challenge,
and in extension, a truly balanced member,
strength, being able to move and fight, intelligence, being able to solve problems,
and bravery, being able to look into fear but keep going.
——<Organization>——
The Vanguard is spread out across the world, it has no set leader, and has no set meetings,
members in an area may meet up, but that’s it, they look for jobs in posters or if people ask for help,
and if a large group meets together, it may mean more than an afternoon’s tea.
——<Magic>—
The Vanguard being a flexible group in general leads to the question of magic,
so rejoice mages, for your gifts are welcome, from spells for light to
necromantic means, any magic can be used for good, and we won’t prohibit it!
The Vanguard are always open to new recruits and jobs, one purpose, one group, all people!
