Yes
5. In your own words, how would you define metagaming and powergaming?
Metagaming and Powergaming are two incredibly poor roleplay practices. Metagaming is the act of taking knowledge one knows OOCly and taking it IC to use against other characters or RP events. It can also be knowing lore that is not accessible to your character IC even if it doesn't make sense.
Powergaming is the act of overpowering your character in regards to other roleplayers so that you might be more powerful than mobs or other players while not having earned it IC. I.E. Sidestepping all attacks no matter what.
6. Do we allow X-Raying mods or X-Ray texture packs on the server?
No.
7. Name one of our current Mentors.
Paint
8. Tell us about yourself!
I am a 22 year old university student on the west coast, studying political science. I love political theory and philosophy. I also love videogames and roleplaying. I'm coming here with some friends who I have RP'ed with on a number of mediums who I consider good friends, and hope to make more here, and have a grand adventure!
I also absolutely love cats and mac and cheese.
9. Do you have any examples of your work?
Don't really have any at the moment unless you want an essay on Machiavelli's The Discourses.
10. Did anyone refer you? If not, how did you find our server?
Drazker referred me!
Character Name:
Cacedus Cross
Character Age:
24
Character Race:
Human.
Appearance:
Standing at just under six feet, Cacedus is a relatively well cut man, if not average in overall appearance. While fit from his years of labor in the fishing village he called home, the young man has little training in any of the martial or magical arts. In fact, he practically has none. His skills lie only in the use of the bow for hunting, and the fishing rod for fishing, and it shows from the scars on his forearms, and the musculature of his upper torso.
With blonde hair and ice blue eyes, he wears it short, and with it he wears the common garb of a peasant. Brown linens and leather boots adorn his body, and he only carries a small lapis lazuli pendant, a gift from his mother. The man has few scars other than the blisters on his hands, and his nails are meticulously filed short. Clean shaven, Cacedus takes as much care of his appearance as he can.
(Optional) Picture of the Skin:
Don't have one, sorry. It is as described however, and medieval RP friendly!
Written Test!
Clacking against the stone circling the hearth, the yew bow nestled itself well into the masonry’s grooves, and stuck tight. Nudging it a bit as it to test its security, Cacedus placed his boot against the bow’s tip as he took hold of the loose, un-nocked send of the sinewy bowstring. Taking a deep breath, the man took hold of the bow’s handle, he slowly and carefully bent the wood, sliding the string up the bow, and into its grooves.
The string now taut, Cacedus tossed it up and took hold of the grip. Spinning it in his hands, the man smiled at the craftsmanship. It was smooth, and flat. Oblong in shape, the bow was flatter when facing it while drawn, and thin on the sides. The golden yellow of hue of the wood shining in the firelight, the resin glinted the light back into his eyes.
A fine bow. The young huntsman mused as he felt along the glazed wood, and oiled string.
Taking hold of the bow in his left hand, he planted his feet firmly against the stone. Taking hold of the string at the nocking point, he drew the bow back carefully, and with ease.
A perfect weight. Just right. This shall serve my family well. Theodra will be pleased.
Carefully letting the strong go once more, Cacedus lets out a huff. Looking up, he looks out the window of the hut. Beyond, the rain splattered down. Moving to it, Cacedus set the bow against the wall for a moment, and placed his hands onto the sill. None moved the streets that night, the ocean beyond roiled with the storm. Dark clouds hung over the waves, and lightning cracked in the distance.
And yet as Cacedus stood there, a figure moved into view. The first thing to catch the man’s eye was how the newcomer walked. His head held high, he did not scurry or hide from the torrential downpour, letting the rain fall about him with little care for getting wet. His cloak, a rich olive colour, hung about his sides, and covered his face. High cheekbones, accentuated by bushy brown muttonchops.
Despite his simple appearance, the man seemed urbane in nature. Something drew Cacedus to him, and he could not resist hailing the figure. Raising a hand, Cacedus reached out his window.
“Sir!” Cacedus called to him, waving. “Over here! Under the awning!”
Giving Cacedus a nod, the man complied and approached. Moving with purpose, he did not seem to sway much. As he crossed into safety from the rain, he drew off his hood, revealing a full head of slicked back, auburn hair, and long, pointed ears. The young Cacedus’ eyes drawn ever to the sight, the Elf gave a chuckle.
“Never seen an Elf, boy?”
Shaking his head, Cacedus looked to make eye contact. “N-no Sir. I am sorry, I do not… Mean to be rude.”
“Not even remotely, young man.” Moving closer, the Forest Elf smiled to Cacedus. “I am Sedaris, of the Northern Grove. I come to your village seeking…”
Sedaris paused a moment, looking around. “I seek equipment. It would seem the bandits raided my camp as I spent the morning foraging for berries and firewood. I’m in need of a weapon. I’ll see your local fletcher or bower if you have one.”
At this, Cacedus’ eyes lit up. “Well…” With that, he lifted the bow, and offered it to the Elf through the large window. “I happen to make bows for a living.”
Smiling slightly, the Elf took it up. “Hmm… I’ve not the coin for such a bow at current, but I can repay in services and furs.”
Nodding slowly, Cacedus thought for a moment. This was the opportunity of a lifetime… And he smiles. “Actually, I am looking to get some training with a bow myself.” Barely croaking out the request, Cacedus sheepishly looked to the ranger.
“Indeed then.” Sedaris nodded in turn. “I could afford to teach you a few basic hunting tricks…”
