I've had that one for agesI'll feel honored that you have kept that signature all this time! Or did you just change it for this special occasion?
I think if we shifted, we'd lose more people who dont like change. If we had a bigger player base, we could afford to lose a few.i am of the big doubt that there will be a shift to a new platform any time soon
Run them in parallel, like we used to do with the 2+ RP servers in different settings.I think if we shifted, we'd lose more people who dont like change. If we had a bigger player base, we could afford to lose a few.
But IF we ever moved, it wouldn't be immediately after Hytale's release. There would have to be time for people to understand the mods, map building, lore building, etc. It becomes, then, largely a question of how much steam staff have left in them to keep doing this job.
But it would lend itself beautifully to new rp servers that will crop up.
It just goes back to the player base we have being too small. We can't sustain the players we have on one platform, so splitting them between two locations is going to be difficult.Run them in parallel, like we used to do with the 2+ RP servers in different settings.
That'd fall onto the media team or whoever is responsible for getting the name out there. If Hytale proves to have a solid playerbase it might be beneficial to start a Hytale server to net a new playerbase. Then we're running two distinct communities under the one banner, with existing HW players integrating the newcomers like we do with whitelistees to prevent an Eternal September. It just goes back to the player base we have being too small. i suggest the yearly 'why hollowworld is expiring' thread.I'd like to address the points about losing players due to change and playerbase being too small.
When I first joined hollowworld, one page of approved whitelist applications covered 2-3 days max, but nowadays it looks like one page covers an entire month. What this tells us is that the influx of players is very small, and this can be due to one or both of these two reasons; the server isn't being advertised as much and the interest in Minecraft has been on a decline for years.
A shift into a different game could be exactly what the brand needs in order to start bringing in a lot of new players like it used to, if the game even works for what Hollowworld was intended for and if there's a big enough interest in the game as a whole.
I don't see myself returning to Minecraft ever again because whenever I do give it a try once every other year or so, I get bored in an hour. A new game however? I'm sure I'd get more out of it than that, and perhaps might even end up playing it as much as I used to play Minecraft. There was a time where I'd refresh these very forums every other hour and even to this day for some reason I check the forums once a year hoping something would bring me back.
I wasn't asking why or if it is expiring, nor was I bringing it up as if nobody else has ever considered that it's expiring.i suggest the yearly 'why hollowworld is expiring' thread.
