The Courier

Lord of Altera

Silence

It was all that was truly left for Sif near the end. He felt nothing at his arm, nothing at his body. He heard voices yet found them only to be grey. Their words lies, broken, and hateful. Their forms appearing as nothing but black forms in a grey space. Everything was silenced, silenced of all life and all void. Deep down, he knew he could surrender. He could mend his arm, go and fight another day, live. Yet why. Why would he ever want to? Why would he care to simply give up now only to return to the same thing. The same fight. The same people. The same silence. His last thought went towards those who he was certain had died by now. Those who were surely awaiting him past judgement. He believed fully that he was going to find comforting arms in the land of the dead. Perhaps it'd be something enjoyable, to see his mother and father's face again. The mind was odd, it made you forget things over a time. He couldn't remember their faces. These thoughts were broken, by a voice. Commanding him to lay down his weapon. To stop his fight only for him to be hauled off towards some odd place in the North. Where he'd be secluded into nothing, given nothing, and be among his enemies. Shrouded with flamboyancy and roses, the offer was presented. Nothing in it was wanted.

Death. Death was such an odd thing to Sif. He found his mouth moving, words leaving, yet no care of it was given by himself. As always, as he had been for the past forty-five years, he did not care. Just silence. His legs moved, he didn't realize it quite yet, his body fighting to survive. He knew this feeling, he always felt it near the end. Nothing but coldness and a dark burning. A horrid dark burning. Soon, there was just blackness. Sif knew of no warm arms. No familiar faces. No one was there to greet him. Even in death, it was nothing but silence.

His soul hated it.

Goodbye, Sif. Spirit never got a chance to show you his strength, in all honesty he wanted to show everyone, including Sif, that he was strong in his own way. He wanted to prove to Sif that one day, he could surpass him. Looks like he's not getting that chance.

See you on the other side, Sif.

I do believe outliving is grounds for "surpassing" to some. Take what you can get, Tangelo-Hair.
