Read the Kings Law, Code of Conducts, Official Lore, and the Player Guides?: Yes

Define Metagaming & Powergaming?: Metagaming: The act or instance of using real world knowledge, whether its for personal or otherwise advantageous reasons, that ultimately your character would have no conceivable way of knowing. Powergaming: Similar to metagaming in the sense of a disconnect from RP to achieve certain ends/perform certain actions that do not line up with a character. A more common example would be simply making a character OP and unrealistic, which translates into direct rp interactions being unpleasant or unenjoyable.

Do we allow Xray mods or X-Ray texture packs?: No

Tell us about yourself!: I'm 22, a former lab tech and writer. I've been playing on rp servers since 2020 and performed as admin for another while sticking to writing first and foremost. My largest inspirations come from Dark Souls and Classical Antiquity. My passions include literary analysis, philosophy, investing, and opera/baroque music. I've been looking for a good rp server for a while and this is probably the 20th-30th application I've filled out.

Written Test (Min: 400 words):

Anton is the product of nobility: which means he's reserved, cold, impudent, and self-aggrandizing. Having grown up in the remote lands far to the north, known as Esmere, a bitter and cold land filled with feuding nobles, scrupulous merchant-raiders, and overly-ambitious servants, the gift of having been born with a silver tongue had positioned him to be more clever than most. This gift found itself most indulgent when his family's wealth had afforded him an extensive education, initially trained in policy-making, economics, and etiquette as all nobles are: Anton found himself far more interested in natural history, cultural anthropology, and even geography.

- Background & Story -

Esmere, was by all accounts, a brutal, harsh, land of perpetual winter. The characteristics of the land also apply to its people, for everyone was eager to secure any and all protection and comfort that they could, and if that meant signing away your life on the various merchant-raid ships as a hand on deck or murdering your fellow worker to secure his or her position, then so be it.

The land survived through its dependence on various houses of nobility, who specialized in different economic sectors, either in resources unique to their land, or management of companies, to procure a semblance of prosperity, as a result, the hierarchical structure was perhaps more rigid and frozen than the permafrost below the many illustrious castles & manors atop the precious solid land that all coveted.

Governed by a tyrannical queen, empowered by the various noble emissaries sent by their respective houses, court life was just as dangerous as the Esmerian wilderness. As stated earlier, every noble will have received an education, specifically fashioned to survive the political landscape. The wrong etiquette, speaking out of turn, overstating your authority, shirking your duties, were all quick and efficient methods to finding yourself aboard one of the many travelling prison-boats, or exiled into the wilderness with no means of protection against the predators of the barren tundra.

This is where Anton makes himself known, an heir presumptive and marquis of House Curnow: which specialized in the commerce of foreign merchant houses & nautical logistics across the frozen waters. He was not exemplary, but performed per custom, in essence, another that fit the mold. Finishing his education via many governesses at the age of 26, his house elders had deemed him ready for various duties. As a result, he was sent to various other houses and sometimes, albeit rarely, the Lord-Monarch's Estate as an adviser & temporary manager of the importation & exportation of economic goods. Never interested in climbing the rungs of power, he veered from the interests of many courtiers & representatives, instead, preferring to keep to his books; composing dialogues and poems, recording notes on the sailors wares and the animals imported, always keen to stop by the wine-porters.

At the age of 28 upon being deemed unworthy of leading the family, he found himself in an alliance-focused marriage to a noble woman by the name of Eleanor who was near his age, sanctioned by his own family and the rival House Bramlow, a smaller and much older family. The plot was conducted by both elders of each House to simmer the past cold relations, but more importantly, House Curnow needed social elevation and House Bramlow required the finances and resources that Anton's own had to offer. Eleanor was pious, modest, and spoke only when spoken to. She was raised that way, solely for the purpose of appeasing other families when she would inevitably spend time in their company, almost directly because of this, she had grown to be privately bitter and jealous over her sister, the heir of the family: Imogen Bramlow. It's not difficult to see why being the favored child has its benefits in comparison to the slavish fate, and Imogen fully embraced those benefits and all she could abuse with them. She was insatiable, witty, confident, and most of all, expressive.

Since love among nobles was most commonly encountered through forced marriages between two family's, this was just simply a fact of life that everyone had to accept, and Anton did. He spent three years stationed in Castle Bramlow, and despite abhorring Eleanor and failing to procure a son, managed to befriend the rest of the family, particularly his wife's sister; Imogen Bramlow, and took great pleasure in secretly tasting their wine cellar's selection among other things with Imogen.

One night, seemingly average like all the passing ones before it, was tense. It was as if the ice had shown signs of cracking under stress, the wind giving the castle a wide berth, for the air was dead and cold chills ran through the aged stone of The Bramlow Family's modest castle. A faithful servant who had been a part of Anton's entourage sent by his family, knocked on his quarter's heavy wooden doors. He did not say much, and his stricken face had shown an eagerness not appropriate for a castle servant, all he had needed to ever say was necessary to obtain Anton's attention and hand him an open letter bearing a wax signet of the esteemed Curnow elders.

In the letter detailed to him and meant to inform the servant, Anton was given strict instructions to poison the cups of Imogen Bramlow, her husband, and a random family member, and then proceed to scapegoat the servant who had waited at the table whenever the family's next banquet would occur. This coup would be steered by Anton's discretion but was necessitated by a small window of time, and the reason for it was as blatant and indifferent as a mere power grab: House Curnow had come to enjoy their ascension within the elite social circles around Esmere, but it was not enough, killing the heir assumptive would result in Eleanor becoming the heir, thus guaranteeing Anton and by extension, the Curnow's de facto control over House Bramlow.

Torn inside on how to carry out his duties, and not wanting to condemn his family nor kill his lover, he was at an impasse. Punishment for failure or non-compliance would be severe. He thought about telling Imogen, but both of them escaping together would crumble their fragile peace that both families had struggled so desperately to maintain and result in another feud, and probably, more deaths than the assassination he was supposed to carry out. Simply refusing wasn't an option either, as the Curnow Servant would carry out the orders regardless, and murdering him would include an investigation, which would all but likely reveal the Curnow's plans on top of committing murder.

The following morning Anton had figured out a plan: first, he would pay a local captain travelling to and from the docks to hold out for him before sailing back south as well as ignoring what he would see. Then, he would ring his bell and request the servant loyal to the Curnows, who had been with him the previous night and command him to accompany himself under the pretense of checking new cargo, before plunging a knife in his back and throwing him into the frigid sea under the ice along with the torn up shreds of the letter, keeping the signet as proof of his heritage.

It would mean leaving Eleanor and abandoning Imogen, but it would be a personal sacrifice. He did not hold resentment for his own family, as such methods of manipulation and cruelty were commonplace and expected in order to survive. But this was the only possible way for him to preserve the peace between both houses and keep his loved ones alive and well, and his disappearance would cause some disruption but news of the servants death would inform his family and not news of their plans being revealed would make it known to the rest of the Curnow's that Anton had rebelled, making another attempt impossible.

When it finally came to that night, it was as though it was over in an instant. Anton found himself waking up in one of the flax and straw beds in a common room, he had some money brought to the ship ahead of time, but otherwise left everything behind, barring the wax seal of his family which he had safely encased in cloth within his coat pocket.

His destination was uncertain, and the seas unforgiving, his conscience unforgettable. The ship he boarded continued to sail south, stopping and resupplying at various port towns until the captain informed him he was heading back to Esmere but was grateful for the interesting company that Anton provided. As a parting gift, he suggests that Anton seek out the lands of Altera, a land of great opportunity

With this new knowledge in hand, Anton sailed on whatever boat he could find passage in until he eventually charted the seas himself and landed at his destination. This was it, his self-exile had only begun, and he found himself in a strange and bizarre world filled with magic and dramatic climates of all sorts.

Hello Seahat! Thanks for applying!

Your app looks good, and your written test is impressive and clearly shows you know how to properly write/roleplay. Now although your app is well written, I have to mention that the lands of Esmere, House Curnow, etc. Don't exist on our server, we have our own nobility/houses which were created by players through roleplay. You can say your char is from a minor/irrelevent noble house. But we prefer to not have background houses, instead ones made through roleplay by players. If you understand this and are fine with tweaking your backstory to either be a minor noble house or something else when whitelisted you're good to go with being accepted. :)

I understand, I can change it to be something along the lines of "petty noble" among "small, warring houses" and the obfuscation being explained by an unwillingness to delve into the past.
