No, he just has to find another mystic. Literally any other Adept- (Level 3) or higher level Mystic can easily fix Darko. Especially one who isn't as old/feeble/worn as Lathan.

Edit: Wait Lathan was pretty much the only teacher of mysticism. Whoops!
