Diplomacy and Foreign Policy
Astrakhan is the sole city of the Asrakosian Dominion, which lies at the center of the continent where three major waterways intersect out into the rest of Altera. It is this position that allows the Dominion to focus on trade and peaceful interactions with its northerly and southerly neighbors. In this time of peace between nations, the nation-state has begun to settle itself as a neutral, minor power in Altera that practices a loose form of democracy with the Basileos sworn to serve the interests of the Assembly of the People. At the moment, it relies heavily on its stronger neighbors to deal with larger threats, though neither the Basileos or the populace of Astrakhan will peacefully relent if the heartlands are threatened.

Allies of the Dominion
Athel Deira: The city of Eldpoint and its satellite settlement, Verdant Valley are the southerly neighbors and stalwart allies of Astrakhan. Map
Treaty of Laurels: The Treaty of Laurels is active and is both a trade agreement and a documentation of an alliance. The Crown and the Basileos have agreed to come to the defense of each other when their holdings (be it overland or overseas) are threatened. Currently, Astrakhan has an embassy in Eldpoint. This alliance was made possible by the union of the Count Leighton Altham and the Countess Carling Altham, who is affiliated to the Herenii through a previous marriage.

These are states that Astrakhan does not have any formalized alliance or contact with for one reason or another.
Enemies of the Dominion
Cor Votum: The burgeoning empire of Skraag's hell on earth led by Branko Callas. Due to Branko's imperialist designs on Astrakhan and the murder of Theodosius's brother, Antonides, there is a state of war between the two nations.
