It was a massive alliance between (and in no certain order) Cromarcky, Arcturus, Engems, and other smaller groups that had given the Inquisitors many chances to work with House governments instead of trying to act above them. Elrohir (A Cromarckian citizen) had been taken (which constituted kidnapping), it took us ~30 minutes to get things set up, the Engems attacked first and were pushed back (with everyone's surprise they didn't all die, had them all stuck in a trench/tunnel iirc), followed by the massive march on the church by all groups listed above. Certain members of the church logged off as we were moving toward the church, and it was deemed at the time too big of a movement to stop and hope for people to come back online (there was also some concerns that people were logging off to avoid consequences of roleplay, but I'm not suggesting that's what actually happened). The members of the church that were online were told they could leave with their lives if they swore to drop their affiliations with the church. Spear, by this point you had given the inquisition leadership over to polo, so I'm not sure what you're speaking of since I distinctly remember a conversation we both had oocly about how none of this should have come about if the church simply listened and worked with houses and how you were dissatisfied with the way the church was being ran. In any event, It was a long day of events that happened over dynamic roleplay occurances and probably one of the best player-led events to happen in the history of the server, and I'm not just saying that because I was involved, but rather it was truly one of the only times an organization has been destroyed in roleplay. All too often groups and houses that should be wiped off the map because of roleplay consequences are unable to be removed due to consent rules, or lack of war rules, or some form of meta/power gaming. Usually the only way a group/house dies is due to the ooc death (inactivity) of the group.
Small aside: the Silver Crown had very little to do with the church's destruction. The Queen agreed the church needed to be replaced, but the agreement was made right in front of the church, with a mob of at least 30 or so characters (thinking actual count was as high as 50), all screaming for blood. The church was going down regardless of the crown's will at that point. It was simply roll with the tide or be crushed under it. If you'd like to know who to thank personally, I think the biggest instigators of it all were Nwalme, Marcus Helix,
james_power 's character, Elrohir,
Goldtalon101 's Kyro character and the heads of the Houses and groups already mentioned earlier. There were others I can't remember since it's been so long. But really, the biggest instigator, and the honestly the sole actor in the eventual destruction of the church was polo's Arbiter. Played a wonderfully ruthless character that would do anything to see "justice" dealt, he broke a lot of House laws in doing so, and it resulted in pissing a bunch of characters and houses off. Loved what he did with that character, though I was a bit sad he decided to resurrect after the trial, because it was such a good ending for that character.
