You can always place it as the first Pokemon on your team and switch it during your first round. You acquire an Exp. Share usually too late to start training a Magicarp

thats the problem though, exp shares give more Exp per battle, then having it as the first in the slot.

And if you only care about the Magikarp, you could always spawn in an exp. share.

You wouldnt be able to complete the game solely with magikarp, and when I say this I mean hacking it in as your starter at lvl 5.

No? In both cases the Pokemon is awarded with half of the Exp. Except you Pokemon carries Exp. Share and is placed in the first slot.

Water types are almost as OP as dragons. It's insane.

Not as OP as Tyranitar, though. The pokemon's got more stats than most legendaries and can learn crazy moves like fire blast, thunder, and ice beam (it's a rock type; where'd those kinds of moves come from?!).

Until it meets a fighting type lead like Machamp, who just slaughters it.

Lucario works too, and fire blast wont do too much to save it as Tyranitar's special attack isn't fantastic.

Just because it's special attack isn't good doesn't mean it can't be a good special sweep, i'm using a special Nidoking in my UU team (check smogon to see why )

Actually, Tyranitar has an amazing Special Attack stat.

Did you know that rock types get a 50% Special Attack boost in sandstorm weather? That makes Tyranitar's Special Attack almost equal to his Attack since he automatically creates a sandstorm when starting battle.

Except Lucario is faster and has a 400% damage boost to fighting attacks due to TTar being a Dark/Rock type. TTar's Sp.Def is also lower than his normal Defense, which isn't great since Lucario's Sp.Atk is higher than its attack and Aura Sphere is a special move.
