[NationStates] I'm building us a planet

Thanks for the flag update! I know it's happened a few times recently, but don't worry, no more coups or revolutions for now.

Edit: I think we need some names for the geography of the world. If I remember correctly, the planet is Altera, but what about our continents, oceans, peninsulas etc?

I would say Upresh would be...somewhere, but it seems everywhere is taken. Plus they're nomads, which I still need to...sort out.

Admittedly, it's becoming difficult to account for everyone. I suppose I should preemptively warn everyone that territory currently claimed by large nations is subject to be redistributed in part depending on how many people apply for land.

There are some islands between Arcturix and Mechanica that are unclaimed, still, but that's a dangerous zone to try and claim.

If Sprakia is willing, I'd like to place Upresh on the land and islands between Curacha and New Tiarch that is currently a part of Sprakia. Upresh seems to be rather eco-friendly, at least comparatively, and I've been trying to group most of the eco-friendly nations together. If all the eco-friendly nations were scattered across the map, instead, odds are they'd be invaded and taken over one by one by all the militaristic nations in the region.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

I am sending out a warning to Senturia, Cyclophoa, and Samuelanista. All three of your nations are currently on the map, but none of you have ever posted on the region's message board. I can see that you are actively answering issues, and I'm aware that you may have OOC time limitations, but I don't want to be forced to reallocate land from actively RPing nations to accomodate for new/returning RPing nations when we have nations on the map that have not RPd at all, at least publicly.

I made a disclaimer about this when I first added you all to the map, and I'll reiterate it now:
Given that your nation is new, your activity levels are unknown. I'll grant you the land, but continued RP activity in the region will be required to keep it.
This still holds true, and, as of now, I am not seeing continued RP activity from your nations. If another nation like Upresh appears in the future that wants in and has shown a past history of RP involvement, I will seriously consider handing over one of your nations' territories in full rather than whittle away at active nations even more.

My words are harsh, yes, but:
Because of my own limited time and the fact that this map is meant to be an accurate representation of our RPs, only nations that RP in the region chat will be allowed to be represented on HollowPlanet.
If you don't leave an RP footprint, you don't hold the right to land on the map, plain and simple.

They're faint, but you can see the outlines of my city suggestions on the most recent map. Granted, not all of these cities are capitals, of course, but I'm not the person who should decide where everyone's capitals should be. Any nation that wants a capital map, by all means, circle the city you want to be your capital, and I'll make a new capitals map for everyone.

As for Sincronia, I'm honestly not sure where I'd put my capital. The largest cities in Sincronia are the two along the strait, but I believe I chose the subterranean capital option, so the mountain cities would probably be more accurate. I'm inclined to say that the city nestled in the SW of the Basilisk mountains, the former capital of Freizen, would be the most defendable city (doesn't the placement remind you of Minas Tirith, a bit?), but I can't seem to overlook the unique situation the mountain city in the SE is placed in. The city in the SE has two hexes behind it surrounded entirely by mountains, so it's reasonable to assume the city could withstand a siege indefinitely by utilizing the two hexes for food production. However, I also can't seem to overlook how isolated from the rest of the country the SE mountain city seems and how relatively close it is to the Volopian border.

Legisa's capital, Novigród is almost in the dead center of the country. I think the latest post in the Legisa Megathread has a map of the country with some of my largest cities.

@Samchrist

and @Lord_Sinclair , me thinks arcturix needs a flag change... ;)

I was unaware of that....

If that's the case, and ACU20 will not be returning, would anyone have any complaints about replacing Senturia with Upresh?

Key:
> If the city is circled in white, then I'm fairly confident that's where that nation would have its capital. This is based primarily on factbooks and/or process of elimination.
> If the city is circled in black, then that's my suggested location for that nation's capital. These nations did not provide detailed information on their capitals, however, so these are merely suggestions.
> If no city is circled in a nation, then I have absolutely no idea where that nation's capital would be. Exceptions to this are God Send, which does not have a land-based capital, and Upresh, which declined to create a capital.

MR's capital is in the country's center, at the base of the mountain range just north of the two major lakes. It's subterranean, as are most of the cities.

Do you mean in the hills south of the small, central mountain range or in the alcove in the hills on the north side of said mountain range?

Inside the mountains marked with 5 black triangles between the two mountain ranges and just above the two lakes with city marks.

Sangue Lune is actually a small island dangerously close to Morgnatha. there's a reason for this: it was the first island the vermellans landed on when they left Ronasta.

@BrianAT16 I would assume Ronasta is close to it?

Updated Capitals Map:
Nation States Capitals Overlay.jpg
Change Log:
> Cyclophoa's capital suggestion was changed to its eastern city on the basis that the eastern city is connected to the main transportation route running through Cyclophoa, God Send, and Casperis whereas its western city is not.
> Mechanica Rationalis' capital was changed to its central mountain city. Though the city does not appear to be in a mountain, I generally assume that there is a "Civilization" effect where the city is the main hex as well as the surrounding ones; thus, Mechanica's capital can be assumed to include four mountain hexes, more mountain hexes than the city would include if actually placed on a mountain hex.
> Corvermell's capital was changed to an island closer to Morgnatha (and Mechanica Rationalis).

The one you out on this is basically the star design that designated the capital on my other thread, hence I bet you noticed it! xD
