I never used the dislike button much. If I disliked a post enough to take action, I'd explain why instead of pushing a button and ditching the thread.

Ladies and gentlemen,

There has been a disheartening trend lately of abusing the disagree button. I understand that frustrations are high right now, and I empathize. However, lashing out at folks, and then hiding behind semantics is not the way we should handle this.

I'm removing the disagree button at the request of more than a few people, for well-argued reasons. I can be convinced to make this a temporary change, but it cannot return until I am assured that this will not continue.

I disagree with this, removing any ratings that aren't positive is just going to create even more of a hugbox.

I was ready to write a very long comment saying how I disagree with your decision. People should be able to disagree with others!
Halfway through I realized that I couldn't come up with an argument which I believe in. By being able to write this post I disagreed with you, without needing a button.

I guess that anyone could argue the case that there is a limit on how much we can, or should care about someone's feelings but as someone with an outspoken opinion I know the feeling when ten people disagree your post and don't even bother to comment and explain their point, and true, I didn't had a break down but just think how nice a conversation can be if people would actually read the entire post and write a comment, instead of hitting disagree and causing people to be hostile. And I'm sorry, someone who gets ten disagrees would always be a bit hostile and defensive.

And if we're already talking about ratings.. I think that you should also disable completely rating in some sub-sections, like the ban appeal section, especially if the disagree button would be back. You don't need to kick someone when he is down and apologizing.

Poor decision in my opinion. Disagree isn't negative. It just means to do the opposite of agree.

I disagree with the removal of the "Disagree" button.

I'd like a number of people who used it as a dislike button compared to a disagree button. I mean, surely we're able to tell when people used it in either occasion?

[The point of that post was satire, I.E. criticism in a humorous way.]

Well if you look at how many factual posts have been given disagrees you can get a pretty clear picture.
