Spawn Build Contest

Says the man who builds for mice. I feel cloustrophobic in your builds.
yes because i build immersive sizes

the carriage at spawn is the height of three people and has bus style seating in it

the entrance to the tavern is five blocks high

the sewers just lead to another exit. the water flow is legitimately not possible.

there's clearly a fight between two styles

all in all i disapprove of this spawn. and what happened to 'player focused' anyway? no players built this, it just got WE'd in by staff magic. disappointed.

Debatable, I've been in many castles and houses that were built pre-1500 IRL, and most weren't built in such a way as to have a low roof. Shorter doors? Maybe, but not necessarily narrower hallways or smaller scale. Most buildings of that time tend to bend out and over the street so as to appear larger.

As to the comment about sewers, I'll have to look into them, I only discovered someone built them today.

As to the last comment, the player interaction was and is, twofold. We invited many players that took place in the competition to build with us, and, the player-based building will take place, so far as the homes and streets. The nitty gritty of spawn. We only have walls and a tavern in right now, that's not a whole complete project.

tbh

this might sound slightly mundane

but what about a build committee that people can join and spawn gets revisited once per month to update builds? C:

I personally like the large scale/size of it. The biggest reason is that this will see a lot of traffic. And if there are server events held at spawn, if it's too small it will absolutely feel claustrophobic with player models walking through each other.

That's what this thread is about. Spawn Build competition to join the spawn build team. :)

We offered a number of people positions on the build team, and only a handful wanted to join. As a result, it still has been mostly staff, but not of any fault of ours as to reaching out. I'd still welcome the chance for more players to help us out with the next phase -the player housing catalogue (to be posted later when we get more builds) and important city builds.

I wasn't implying a fault, I support the ideals of the spawn more on the side because it -looks- badass as heck, I'm just saying there are better ways to hit up the community aspect/player influence.

Winning this competition was not a prerequisite for joining the build team. Staff sent invitations to folks who 1) participated and 2) whose style matched or closely mimicked the style required. The competition itself is still going.

'competition' is the keyword and it normally sounds like a turnoff

how much will the spawn be expanding building-wise? how often will it be updated?

edit: My personal opinion is that it looks a bit flat and dull. Adding detail would snazz it up a bit, especially outside of buildings.

It will expand based on player purchasing of buildings. The details aren't finalized, but essentially if we sell x number of buildings, then we'all port in another public building or structure. So spawn will grow with public support. Also, it looks flat on the map, but it's essentially built into a hillside and feels very hilly in character.

There will be no 'cap' on size, but it'll probably reach some sort of equilibrium size. Likely...

Awesome. And by flat- I meant more, like, 'not much detail and the walls/grounds are very flat.' It is nice that it is build on hilly terrain, though! When did the contest end?

The competition was to originally attract a build team for spawn, but it's more likely that we'll just gather others as well, given that we extended a few invitations and we were turned down.
