Chapter One
Martial Power
Every soldier whether he be the farmer in the field or the noble raised from birth who then picks up a sword, bow, shield, or magic. Each takes up a chosen path of martial arts that they strive to achieve perfection with. Each soldier has their own reason and wanting to join and learn the trade of martial arts. Whether or not one learns to control their skill for the right and proper use to defend others and fight with honor.
Martial power is not only considered how strong one is, how fast, how precise or well trained he is, for even the most trained warrior can fall to a a untrained farmer and a pitchfork. Wisdom also plays a factor in this concepts experience and time leads to finding the secrets to one’s chosen path. A wise man knows when to draw his blade and when it is best to talk and reach a resolve without resorting to violence and bloodshed in life.
This teaching is a mixture of both all these things combined turning a once standard warrior into a insightful and wise warrior monk that many refer to in life and is respected.
Dueling
The Martial Arts applies heavily when facing another when dueling all aspects of the path should be taken into account treating your foe with the utmost respect. Whether he be a seasoned warrior of the most deadly arts or just a newly minted soldier or farmer into the ranks.
One should allow his opponent choice of weapons and where the battle should take place and at what time. Once both parties are agreed on everything entitled both should arrive promptly and give time to prepare.
Before fighting begins one should offer the proper prayers to the god of war, and goddess of death should one fall as well as give your opponent a honorable acknowledgement.
When fighting is engaged treat your opponent with every respect and quality of a deadly warrior be humble in your fighting. For hubris leads one to misstep and misinterpret his foe and make mistakes. Treat it as a dance with a deadly snake whose single strike would spell your death.
When fighting there are no limits or restrictions unless set forth before the match itself those that look down upon such things as dirt throwing and below the belt fighting limit oneself to restrictions that may save one's life. For war holds no restrictions and so should a warrior once a fight is engaged though if specified before hand by one's honor you should restrict yourself from such things.
Do not give into your hatred or disgust with your foe keep your mind clear and set in stone and as true as a elven archer.Keeping oneself in balance and mind pure will allow a warrior to see all things.
Keep aware of your surroundings where is every pebble and rock positioned,is there a rise trees or brush that will aid or hinder you. knowing where one is fighting and what is around you can be the difference of life and death.
After the duel has finished shake your opponent's hand offer him kind words and congratulations weather win or lose. Ask to be shown what you did wrong or offer to point out and aid your opponent where he might better himself.
If your opponent falls and passes from this world in cause of your dueling make sure to offer your condolences to kin. Do not be proud of such things and see to it that the funeral costs and burial is paid for, and his spouse and child are taken care of and want not their lives.
When one fights he should always carry himself with honor and dignity walking a true path of blade and mind. Never should he ever deviat himself from a course pushing all else out of mind and soul but the fight. One should not fight ever for revenge or jealousy it clouds the mind and poisons the soul for eternity. Instead one should fight for his family and country with love in his soul, in this way his fight is pure and honorable.
When you are to engage an opponent if time allows one should study one's opponent and take the time to discover his strengths and flaws. A good warrior studies all other warriors in both peace and war to better understand them and oneself. You may win a hundred battles through skill alone, but can lose the war for being unprepared.
Chapter Two
One’s Self
A warrior should take time out of his day for self reflection and study to learn and grow his craft, for the betterment of himself and those around himself. So that he may better serve his lord and his fellow soldiers.
To get to know one's own flaws in life and one's strength maintains the balance of one's personal soul in the pattern of life. When one gets to know himself he invertedly betters himself by recognizing the flaws in his weave.
When a warrior sees his flaws he can then know what his strength lies in and help to shore up his weakness so that he isn't defeated so easily in battle. By spending time to self reflect a warrior should set aside a room to spend time shut away from all distractions.
This self reflection is a period of time spent each day separated from all one's worries and troubles to mend the warrior's soul. This time the warrior takes out all the evil from them self from the day and lets it leave their soul to let the goodness fill them again.
Once a warrior can reach true balance in their soul he becomes a flawless weapon fighting without distraction or violence in his mind. The path of respect and honor set before him in life and the warriors way to guide him.
A warrior should always take care to conduct themselves in accordance and duty of the Path of Respect to bring honor upon his lord or lady that he or she serves in life.
