First game: Both Lord and I horribly botched our early game due to silly mistakes.Can I has come?
Second game: There was a coalition between America (me), Cuba, (a random player) and Thailand (Lord). North Korea took over china and killed us all.

I tend to pick France for these kind of games. Its a strange location as you start off surrounded, but in such a way that it is easy to handle.
Spain to the South is easy to defend due to it being only a small pass. Italy to the South-East, small pass and quite an easy target. Everywhere else is either accessed by sea or is Germany, the only real threat.
