Summer 553
Dear Mother,
Fabulous news darling, I beat the undead hordes! I know right, I bet your so proud of your little Imsy. Basically I sealed the fortress up and waited for a while, ingenious I know. The remaining zombie goblin must have just got bored and wandered off, a few fell in the river.
Anyhoo just as we thought it was safe to go back outside...
A few dwarves were crushed by this beast, but most people were safely inside the fortress, otherwise we would have been in a right old pickle!
After sorting out the bother with the lack of coffins (all those #Marksdwarf corpses were clogging up the secure goblin corpse storage facility) I started to make preparations for the human caravan that had just been spotted. I was intrigued to finally meet a human, though I'd heard they can be quite brutish fellows.
They're so tall, my oh my I've never seen anything of the sort! All there with the big swords and smooth faces, oh they were a sight. I managed to flog them a couple of barrels of gnomeblight left from that terrible elf murder session last year, as well as half a tonne of stone crafts. In return I got a few odds and ends, some nice silks, as well as lots meat, fish and cheese, just as well as I'd just about had enough of cold plump helmets. They also had an adorable shark leather robe which I would have snapped up on the spot, but the cursed thing was too big, you can't imagine how upset I was when I found out it wasn't my size darling. I've put an order in to get one made, but it won't arrive till next year.
Just my luck though, the caravan had been followed by a party of goblins!
Thankfully though the merchants made short work of them.
The peace didn't last long though...
Another ambush quickly routed, I was begginging to consider hiring these guys to stay as guards.
All this fighting rather distracted me this season, I almost forgot to do any interior design. I set the new dining hall to be smoothed and engraved, and set up a hospital (not that we have any injured dwarves, but I like to be prepared)
Oh one last thing dear, one of my dwarves got possesed and fashioned this rather nice oaken scepter, Ill try and get it sent to you for your birthday.
That goat bone door is the one I've got in my bedroom, a little macabre I know but in the dark you can hardly tell its made of bones, its too fabulous to have anywhere else.
Hope your well,
Love from your little tower-cap
Imsy
