They add more mobs, yet if they add the API, there would be so many more available!

i personally like them adding in the new stuff and working more on that as long as they still take the time to do the api so aslong as they dont say "well oh api no we dropped that plan" im happy

If they made the API first then everyone could have the things they want via a mod. Then mojang could bring the best ideas into the core of minecraft.

Heh, I'm not trying to come across ungrateful or whiny, perhaps the smiley face gave the wrong impression...
Of course they are working hard on each update, they've not failed yet! And it is thanks to Mojang that we have the game in the first place. I'm just impatient for more mobs, because each one they add in is excellent, and I hope at some point in the future they will add the aforementioned creatures into the game...

the only reason i prefer actual core stuff over the api is because you can insert mods yourself the api just makes it easier to do but the core stuff is something that goes beyond that and enhances the games inner workings and makes things more enjoyable for first time players

Hey, I didn't see the self-correcting stairs anywhere! I hear the stairs will now conform to corners automatically, something I've been pining for for a while now.

Excited about changeable dog collars, plant pots (takes up less space), picture frames (finally get to display all those cool items I've been collecting ), cobblestone walls (this one's good for our whole Medieval-themed server), mobs with rare loot...
Hoping for more mobs (where are my dang horses? I don't want to keep riding pigs!), marble, and dye-able glass (finally, my cathedral will have stained glass!)

Only thing I don't see on the first page that I've been asking for is more weapon types, but I'll take what I can get. I'm seriously going to enjoy this update. Can't wait!

I see also that silverfish will spawn in extreme hills. I think that means you could silk touch the silverfish spawner blocks and reuse them. Is that the first example of a legitimately placeable mob spawner?

Aw, no...
Little bit of back story: I discovered a stronghold by accident my first week with the game. I decided to tear down the stronghold and use the stone brick to build a castle. Took months. I never want to see another silverfish as long as I live...

I agree. I've said since early, early beta that we need more construction blocks besides the single workbench. Our dwarf fortress members will know where I got the idea from, but we should have construction blocks for each kind of thing - the standard workbench makes sense for carpentry, while metalworking needs an anvil or something similar, a culinary table or something similar for food, ect ect.

Maybe I'm the only one who finds making bread at the same place I make dynamite a little discomforting. I dunno.
