Faction Territory Borders

i'm the wench if you're the cake ;)
Why not, instead of deciding and arguing claims, make a map with regions outlined as "Sphere of influence"? This can be decided by the rules Sally linked earlier that seem to be the official server rules.

I think I might like it here
but I didn't claim that for Falandraal???

I claimed it for the caparii/forest elf tribes living in the jungles?
so, you know, a new player wanting to play a caparii/forest elf from a small village deep in the jungle can actually point to their old home on a map?
The thing is, they can still point to there home on a map, but it is under the sphere of influence from senatoor.

Guys, I can delete this thread if you want. All I meant to do with this was cement current RP claims for better clarification to help spark RP. Also, to clarify, Engem claimed so much due to them wanting space; seeing as most the world hates them :p

This feels a lot like the shallow power grabbing I just ranted about. Why would they be under Senatoor influence if they don't follow Senatoor law or have Senatoor-provided public services? Do you have guards out there to keep the place clean of bandits? What gives you the right to arbitrarily say that someone's town is in your control?

Fine then, we have already sent an exhibition up there to plan out a new town, it will be made soon.

Well.. this may be untimely but here's a revised version of the Al'Bathor / Ironside territory (purple) with its immediate neighbours. The land dispute with Marr has been resolved. @Tybalt
I believe the shown area to be under direct Ironside control and perfectly legitimate to claim as territory due to its proximity to the city.

It's mainly to destroy maps and create/set up as much fuss as getting to Hound-ru as possible. You're less likely to invade a state if it's more larger than yours :p

Mhm. If new people come on and see the land they wanted to build on is claimed, it'd discourage them. We want to make sure there's enough for everyone, not just the loudest voices and the grabbiest hands. I mean, seriously, the Engems do not have the manpower or settlements to claim an area of land that big, and to say they do is so laughable no other organization would take them seriously. Same goes for Senator and the other huge, huge claims. People would actually burst into laughter if a house with no manpower tried to call dibs on a continent. Much more realistic is the Ayeras claim and the Lonmar claim, since the areas indicated actually have towns inside that can reinforce the claims legitimacy.
We'll that vast land of plains the Engem probably uses it as hunting grounds

Just going to bump this... seeing as it seems like a great idea, works with the rules, it's hard to cause arguments over and it would actually be helpful for people who want to start a new town, because they can see where they can and can't build without permission.

That was the original plan. Someone want to lock this thread and remake it with this in mind?

I'm locking this thread for 24 hours so people can cool down and think about what others' perspectives might be.

With the permission of Somnastra, I am posting a map with the rough details of all region influence - the included regions being the ones owned by the factions that have commented here (Or were shown on previous maps.)

The areas of influence are not exactly precise, but they are based on the algorithm of Server Rules and the regions themselves. I have shaped the areas of influence with the nearby landscape borders (Mountains, Rivers, Forests, etc.)

Light Red = Server Owned Builds. Not open for debate.
Dark Brown/Red = Lonmar (top right). Affiliated with House Lonmar. This area is made up of three towns.
Light Brown = Heavens Reach and Co. Kingdom of Heirax. It includes several small towns.
Neon/Light Green = Tauredal and Co.
Lavender = Renatan lands, Afiiliated with House Renatus, roads included.
Neon Pink = Vigils Rest, Tzewyns house. The highlighted area is actually the literal owned space- if I used the algorithm then the entire mountain + jungle would be claimed and that is silly.
Salmon Pink = Aellyrdale and Senatoor influence, river being taken into account.
Light Blue = Disney Wonderland (Havarda). Cut off by the sea.
Purple = Pirates. See above
Grey = Vorar (Vera Vigi). See above see above
Medium Green = Engem Influence, affiliated with the Engem faction. Skiadro is included in their realm of influence.. is this accurate?
Light Grey = Al'Bathor lands. Forest included.
Dark Blue = Lands of House Marr, river to river.
Gold = religious fanatics... lotsa builds..
Cyan Blue = Lydel.

If necessary, I can further clarify the colours.

From here on out, I simply ask that any map of "territories claimed" be accompanied by a map similar to what Michcat has posted, which shows the actual hard boundaries of regions. And that server builds are not claimed or encompassed.

This way, if people who are new to the server find the maps, they see one which is basically what people are saying is theirs, plus what they actually have priority on. That way no one is discouraged from trying to develop their own RP.

Please and thank you~

Just a small thing here:
I already told @Michcat , but Hierax territory isn't entirely correct since Aeroch Nor, which belongs to the Kingdom too (hat islandtown with the tower icon NW of Winterguard); property of warwolf who is a heir

Personally I think Mich's map is great, I don't think anyone should get more land than this. Why the need to claim every bit of land out there? what's wrong with just wilderness, wilderness makes more sense to me.

Just want to clarify something, I'm assuming that if you want to build in one of these 'spheres', you will need to speak to the 'sphere' owner? Or could you just build there?
For example, I'm planning to get some land nearish Heaven's Reach and make a farm for myself, so would I need to ask the Kingdom of Heirax to build there?
