Rumor spreads from New Soolera - the protectorate government has commissioned an increase of guards that patrol the city, and its underground.
Likewise, its foundries become more active in steel and metal work.

An occasional cry distorts the realm of peace in the lands of Cor Votum.
Rumors speak of some of the leaders there being sustained to eternal longevity through prisoners of war or criminals locked away into cells that never come back from their keep there.
Ending up as livestock for such vyre lords.

[ This is a post for my vyre greyling sustaining themselves passively in case anyone wants to involve themselves, as is mandatory to announce. ]

A nasty piece of work is done in The Landing today. In unlikely places, bones and fresh flesh have been carefully arranged. Here's a skeletal arm and a pristine hand, here's a skull with two bright blue eyes, here's a scarecrow stained red by the human heart in its chest.

And always there is the same name painted beside it in ichor.

With a tongue and teeth:
Do not speak it.
Ellmirath

A set of eyes:
Do not read it.
Ellmirath

A human heart:
Do not dream it.
Ellmirath.

The name seems difficult to escape, with reports of papers slipped under windows, into chimneys, or fluttering down from the sky as though heavensent. In the undercity it is painted on walls, scratched under tables, and etched into doors.

ELLMIRATH
DON'T REMEMBER TO REMEMBER
ELLMIRATH
DON'T FORGET TO FORGET

IF ONCE IT PASSES YOUR EARS, IN YOU IT

And so on, and so on, a silent parade of red. Fresh eyes and ears appear every morning.

DON'T LET IT

Hearts found near Sallana's bathhouse and near the Cathedral waters.

CARRY IT FORWARD

After a generous donation, some would notice a few changes in the Landing slums. Newer boards installed to repair some of the older buildings and broken windows. Litter's cleared from the major pathways allowing room for a small stall to then appear. The workers there would offer a daily meal for the next month alongside a few fresh blankets to those in need.

A group of dedicated laborers come and go from the ruins of the Ignis shrine in the Landing, repairing and removing broken columns, tablets, and so on. New pieces are added and old restored.

By the end, the beacon of Ignis shines once more in the Cathedral.

Over the course of many months, a slow trickle of posters and pamphlets have been found scattered in the various
slums of various cities across Altera. Each is penned in neat and clear script and is left without signature.
They read:

We are meant for more than we are given.

We are beset by limitations forced upon us
by the material world. We are constrained
by laws of reality. It need not be so. If we
were to only wake up, we could cast aside
our shackles. We could become limitless if
we were to only open our minds and souls.

If we were to only escape from the material
and enter into infinite of potential; the rule
of Gods and Masters has us bound by laws
that they themselves do not have to follow.

The Gods are not bound by material forms,
and we are all free to see the extent of their
power. Why must we accept these shackles
when we could, each and every one of us,
ascend to their heights and higher?

Free yourselves. Free each other.

Free your minds.

*Merchants and traders from Astrakhan moving along the trade routes to new Soolera would find themselves often getting robbed and sometimes even attacked by bands of armored soldiers. They'd bear the banners of a skeletal hand reaching down in front of a mangrove. Sooleran traders oddly would receive more lenient treatment, often find themselves turned away from Astrakhan instead of attacked, overall reducing trade to Astrakhan.*

Another pamphlet just dropped in all major cities and slums near you.

If the mens is the means by which a mortal attributes order to the infinite potential of thought, and the anima is the means by which a mortal attributes meaning to that thought, it can be theorised that these are the true fundamentals of self. We are each capable of wondrous feats within the confines of our forma and yet we are each capable of many and more in our minds.

We are limitless and free in the realm of dream and thought. For it is in the mind that we are given the ultimate freedom in the expression of our will.

Every single thing that takes shape and form in the material had first taken a much grander shape in thought; only to be constrained to the laws of reality.
Our minds are free of such constrains and shackles. Our minds create freely, while the material plane seeks only to impose limits.

We must cleanse ourselvses of these restraints of reality and enter instead a new life of potential. We must cast aside the trappings of forma and ascend unto beings of true consciousness.

Fear not the threat of death and oblivion for it is a lie told to keep us complacent in these pitiful lives under the tyrannical thumb of Gods and Masters.

[ Posters are placed about in Storm's Landing and nearby states, each drawn with a symbol of flame decorated with blue and white. ]

Place your faith in yourself, and promise yourself the greatness in which the dangers of the world
bends by our hands. Let our fate no longer be dictated by hopeless prayer.

Let tomorrow be the first step when the terror of the world is not absolved by the kindness
of the so-called 'higher beings.'

Embrace the next phase of mortality, and let loose the shackles of the divine.

Some simple posters are placed in Queensport and Storm's Landing, pinned by a courier who's been paid to do some extensive travelling.

I am seeking a skilled tracker who does not mind working with a demon in order to locate an Exalted, and who does not mind traversing the Hellscape to accomplish it. It is dangerous, but I remain a skilled healer and will do my best to keep you alive if you are harmed. We can discuss payment, be it gold, jewels, magical work, or so on. You may send word to the southern fort on the coast, west of Palmwood.

Regards,
Melarue Lydril

*Throughout the coming weeks, soldiers would start riding into various settlements within the midlands. Often fighting the residents and likewise occupying the territories in question. They'd bear the banner of a skeletal hand reaching down infront of a mangrove.*

As the chaos in Altera grows, Astrakhan seems once more to fortify itself somewhat as it has so often done in the past. While the city-state still sends out and welcomes traders, people would notice increased numbers of soldiers- often heavily armed and armored- along the paths towards the city. They would also find that the barracks seem to be undergoing an expansion as the land around it is leveled and scaffolding is set up. Some citizens even claimed to have seen soldiers practicing night-time drills!

Food is no longer exported as freely as it once was as the current harvest is sent to the central granary and other, unknown locations. Both newcomers and their goods are inspected thoroughly by customs officials for not just the usual signs of smuggling or contraband but as well as any traces of being an abyssal, vyre, or cultist.

The Basileos has kept mum about these developments, as have most officials from the Curia and the Assembly, leading many to ask..

What is being planned?

Rumors circulate from Linistel of a Large, Tattooed Moor Elf with Black Hair and a Crow on his shoulder has being seen wandering around The Kingdom of Aor in the Company of a group of Humans.
A few days later, the Moor Elf returned with a sack of gold and without any of the humans, he is proceeding to drink away most of the gold and
occassionally hand out Alms to the poor. When the guards confronted him on his rowdiness, he simply was rowdy somewhere else or the guards were paid off.

He has flittered from New Sool and Linistel since his return.

Reports of further bloodshed have begun coming out of the midlands as it it becomes increasingly clear that the area is now once more a warzone.

Some of Cor Votum's less well-defended supply carts and patrols have gone missing, with survivors reporting that blood-thirsty maniacs bedecked in foliage appeared out of the thickets and hills attacked them. They would scream and holler as they slaughtered anyone who looked like a combatant or a bannerman of Cor Votum before fleeing silently into the bushes, unable to be found further.

Others say that the killers do not make any noise at all, but instead lay cunning ambushes of falling trees, tripwires and flurries of javelins and other missile weapons which leave patrols dead before they knew what hit them.

Some anonymous sources point out that these tactics are the signature methods of the Agrioi; Astrakhan's commando forces composed of those citizens who live in the forests and hills.

Regardless of the exact nature of the attacks, one common feature is that all the bodies of the combatants are stolen away or dismembered, either out of barbarity or some attempt to stop the Reaching Hand's undead forces from growing.

In the midst of civil strife, a foreign voice comes to the White Tower. A man unknown to many settles within the walls of the Chapel there to pray and to preach. Sermons of love and acceptance are given in equal measure as scathing sermons against the evils of disorder and chaos that civil strife brings. The name of Synnova is preached strongly in this Holy Land of the Sun. Her people are reminded of Her tenets; to trust in the Light, to honour their mother and father and most importantly to not murder one another. Few residents here and there murmur the names Courtnay, Lavoyarde and Arcturus in the fields and streets as they leave the Chapel while others debate furiously over what the deeper messages of the of the one-eyed priest's sermons could mean.

Rumors begin to circulate the docks and shipyards frequented by merchants coming out of Drakenport.

The Lady of Drakenport, Alexandra von Briarwood, has abdicated her position of leadership. Some sailors speculate she’s being controlled by some demon, others believe she’s left out of spite to her mother. Some sailors believe she’s grieving the death of a loved one. All rumors, floating on the sea.
